The reservoir is the nearest body of water where you can take a motorized boat - and happens to be where most of the City of Bozeman's water comes from! A popular way to experience the Bridgers, about an hour drive from Arrowwood, this alpine lake is one of the few you can drive to (4WD needed). There are a handful of first come, first serve campsites up there. Outhouse and water pump are the only amenities. Trailhead for the shortest hike to the top of the bridgers - Sacagawea Peak. Hike 3 miles up 2,000ft of elevation. An amazing way to experience Bozeman.

Fairy Lake Trailhead
A popular way to experience the Bridgers, about an hour drive from Arrowwood, this alpine lake is one of the few you can drive to (4WD needed). There are a handful of first come, first serve campsites up there. Outhouse and water pump are the only amenities. Trailhead for the shortest hike to the top of the bridgers - Sacagawea Peak. Hike 3 miles up 2,000ft of elevation. An amazing way to experience Bozeman.

Don’t brag about being from CA
It’s real in Montana… especially in recent years, an influx of people and money from high population areas like CA, TX, and the East Coast has led to some bitterness from locals toward those particular demographics for bringing mass development, high housing prices, and more traffic both on the roads and trails - in many cases with a lack of respect. My advice is to simply live the golden rule- be kind respectful and courteous to everyone you meet. Montanans are kind and thoughtful people (maybe a bit stoic too). They just find it annoying and aggravating when tourists come in and act entitled
