Neighbourhoods

Woodlands Guesthouse is situated in the valley of Mount Gardner and Josephine Ridge on beautiful Bowen Island, BC Canada. A family friendly neighbourhood that is just minutes to the main shopping hub of Snug Cove and Artisan Square and the beautiful sunset beaches on the west side of the island. Our local public beach, Tunstall Bay, is perfect for swimming, watching the cruise ships set sail for Alaska, kayaking and taking a late night dip with the phosphorescence. Hiking trails, working farms, an award winning cidery (and a second brand new cidery) specialty food shops and seasonal treats are within walking distance from the front door. Woodlands is on the public transit route which makes visiting the island without a vehicle a great option. Our central location makes it easy to explore our island at your leisure - we look forward to sharing our little piece of Bowen Island with you.

Personal Vehicle, Public Transit, By Bike

Visiting Bowen Island with your own personal vehicle is definitely the best way to see everything our island has to offer. If this is not possible, then the main corners of our island are accessible by public transit. There are no specific bus stops (other than our main stop off the ferry at the corner of Bowen Island Trunk Road and Cardena Road). Just wave down the bus and hop on. The bus follows the same schedule as the ferry - check Translink for an up to date schedule. Many like to cycle the island, but be forewarned, it is very steep and not advisable for inexperienced bikers.

Hitchhiking, Waving and Ferry Etiquette

Hitchhiking is welcomed on Bowen Island. You will notice 'Thumbs Up' hitchhiking signage throughout the island. These locations have been chosen due to visibility and areas that you can pull over safely to pick up your passenger. Waving - we like to wave and say hello, so don't feel shy! Ferry Etiquette - Please do not park in the cross hatched areas as it blocks roadways and makes visibility difficult. Do Not make an illegal u-turn to access ferry line up. Do Not attempt to pull into the line up once it has reached the blockade - instead wait for the next sailing.
