Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall; No matter the time of year, there are plenty of fun activities for all!
Just a 15 minute scenic drive away, Upper Karr Canyon Recreation Area the perfect place to go for a easy family/group/solo hike. You are going to love getting out in the fresh mountain air to enjoy some of New Mexico's fines views. Also, if you are visiting in the winter, be sure to bring some sleds. When we get a good snow, Upper Karr Recreation Area is a hidden sled haven, with good long gentle sloping hills that God seemingly made specially for sledding.

Sunspot HighwayJust a 15 minute scenic drive away, Upper Karr Canyon Recreation Area the perfect place to go for a easy family/group/solo hike. You are going to love getting out in the fresh mountain air to enjoy some of New Mexico's fines views. Also, if you are visiting in the winter, be sure to bring some sleds. When we get a good snow, Upper Karr Recreation Area is a hidden sled haven, with good long gentle sloping hills that God seemingly made specially for sledding.

The Cloudcroft Ice Rink is the only natural ice rink in all of the Southwest. It is located in the Historic Town of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, right in the middle of town on highway 82, and across from Cloudcroft High School.
Note: With it being a natural ice rink, it is highly dependent on the weather being cold.

Grocery Supplies
Cloudcroft is a friendly little town up in the New Mexico Mountains, 8,675 ft above sea level. Though the small town experience is wonderfully refreshing and relaxing, there aren’t a ton of grocery options in town. So I would recommend grabbing all your groceries on your way up.
I’d say the majority of guests stop in Alamogordo to grab the main grocery items and any extra supplies at the Walmart Super Center or the called Lowes grocery store.
There is also Family Dollar in Cloudcroft. Or you can find a few fresh fruits and vegetables at the Allsups gas station.
