Hike Recommendations
An easy to access hike in the nearby town of Montreat. It's a short but strenuous hike up to a beautiful view of the Montreat Valley and 7 Sisters Mountain Range. Round trip is roughly 1.5 miles.

99999 Lookout RdAn easy to access hike in the nearby town of Montreat. It's a short but strenuous hike up to a beautiful view of the Montreat Valley and 7 Sisters Mountain Range. Round trip is roughly 1.5 miles.

3074 Catawba River RdJust down the mountain in neighboring Old Fort, this is a relatively gentle out & back trail (2.7 mile round trip) that brings you to a beautiful waterfall. This is a favorite for the area, so parking can be a little challenging during peak hours.

If looking for a hike a little further away, look no further than the Craggy Pinnacle hike up on the Blue Ride Pkwy. It's an absolutely beautiful 50 minute drive. Hike itself is a moderate short (round trip ~1 mile) journey to a fantastic observation area.

401 Laurel Cir DrA 3 minute walk from the Carriage House, the 1/2 mile trail that loops around Lake Tomahawk is a must. Absolutely beautiful views throughout the hike, no wonder it was voted as Black Mountain's #1 outdoor amenity by the locals!

One of the newer shops in town, this place is a collective of small regional outdoor focused businesses. Even cooler is the unique bar they have in their courtyard. Definitely worth checking out.

Admittedly a biased opinion here (I'm heavily involved w/ this organization), cheapest beer in town and a short walk from the carriage house. If looking for a dive bar to enjoy some beers while supporting the veteran community, look no further. This place is open to everyone. It's a very low key but always friendly and fun place to stop by.

If you want to make a day out of visiting Asheville, here are some recommendations:
Downtown Asheville - Park at the grove arcade area and walk towards the old vance monument area. There's lots of places to shop but make sure you check the opening times. There's a cafeteria called S&W cafeteria that's got some really great places to eat and drink for a quick stop.
Another great shopping area is West Asheville. Park around Provisions Mercantile, it’s centrally located and there are some unique/fun stores around there.
There's a good restaurant called Carmel's which would be great for people watching. It's near the Grove arcade.
Also, a local favorite restaurant is 9 Mile.
