City/town information
Evanston is about an hour east of Salt Lake, right off of 1-80. The Wal-Mart in town is the best place to stop and load up on groceries. Manila does have a grocery store, but hours are limited and it is very small and busy during the summer. I find it best to just grab groceries here before you head up. You are still about 3 hours drive away, so pack some ice around your meat or other "cold" groceries.

Closest medical care
If you are coming from Provo, Utah, or just want a more scenic route from Salt Lake...driving HWY 40 through Provo Canyon to HWY 191 to Vernal is a great route as well.
Vernal's Walmart is usually open til 11pm and a great place to load up on groceries. Again, there is not much option with food up by Dutch John or the Gorge, so your best stop is Vernal or Manila if coming from 1-80.
Vernal also is your "go-to" for any emergency issues. In case of injury or need for medical care, the Ashley Valley Regional Hospital is your closest medical treatment facility, along with an instacare in town.

This is a great place to rent rafts, kayaks or even a boat. They are super helpful and great prices! They also do a shuttle service from the dam to Little Hole if you want for about $55.
The fly selection here is amazing, and a lot of them are hand tied by local guides, so if you ask them what to use, they can help you find some good flies. The local flies are pretty expensive, usually about $4 a fly.
We like to go here for ice cream and snacks. They also have a nice barista there in the mornings.
Lastly, their restaurant is great! With COVID, the wait times around the busy hours can be long, but they can usually get you on a table within 30 minutes, even if it's busy.
