With an internationally well known reputation The Walnut Tree Inn is famous for its incredible food and fine dining experience and is a mere 6 minutes walk away from Ty Addy. Bookings would need to be made well in advance - please ensure you check menus and prices before you book - it ain’t cheap!
Neighbourhoods
A quiet rural linear village with a range of easy to moderate field and hill walks on the doorstep. It is 7 minutes drive from the small market town of Abergavenny known as ‘The Gateway to Wales’ and famous for its 3 surrounding hills The Sugar Loaf, The Skirrid and The Blorenge. Further afield lie The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons which offer more challenging terrain for walkers and mountain bikers. The Monmouthshire & Brecon canal lies at the foot of the Blorenge in Abergavenny and can be easily accessed for a gentle canoe or paddle board trip. There are plenty of fine eateries in Abergavenny - from coffee and cake at the marvellous Trading Post (dogs welcome - in fact positively encouraged!) or The Angel Bakery which supplies a wonderful range of pastries and artisan breads. For a more substantial meal there are a good selection of restaurants, (English/Welsh, Italian, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Turkish) as well as 2 excellent Fish and Chip shops and local pubs serving real ale and good food.
Brynygwenin

Approximately 50 minutes drive away through wonderful scenery lies the small Market Town of Hay on Wye, known as ‘ TheTown of Books’. Packed with many unique book and craft shops Hay is a delightful place to visit and has a few really nice cafes, tea rooms and restaurants to relax and enjoy in.
Part of the well known ‘Three Castles Walk’ in Monmouthshire (a 19 mile route taking in the 3 medieval castles of Skenfrith, Whitecastle and Grosmont) Skenfrith is a delightful riverside village with ancient church and castle ruins. Adjacent to the bridge over the river Monnow is the acclaimed ‘Bell at Skenfrith’ restaurant and hotel noted for its exquisite cuisine and fine dining (booking essential!)

After a challenging hike up to Pen Cerrig Calch with sweeping views across to the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains you can drop back down to this charming little town, awash with flower fronted pubs, cafes and a variety of local independent shops.
