Frome is about fiteen minutes drive from Crockerton and a haven of independent shops and cafes. Take a stroll up the winding side streets, in particular Catherines Hill.

Plan a visit around a trip to Stourhead or pub lunch at Hindon, either Grosvenor or The Lamb - see our recommendations.

Lovely glassware, old furniture, fabrics, garden ornaments - you name it you'll find it. Nicely curated and set over a couple of floors. There is loads on and its definitely worth checking their website for live music and events. Set in the heart of Bruton with its great range of local shops and galleries.

The Bath Arms is in the village of Horningsham about 10 minutes away. It is a traditional pub with great bar and restaurant food. Worth booking. Lovely setting, great service and fabulous food. Lovely outdoor space.

The George at Longbridge Deverill is a five minute drive away. It is a family friendly local pub serving the usual range of pub grub and they also serve breakfasts. They have lots of outdoor seating, their prices are very average for pub grub and they do a great fish and chips.

The Prince Leopold Inn at Upton Lovell is a real gem and a firm fave of ours. This lovely pub with a great riverside garden, is popular with its locals and really friendly and welcoming. Fantastic food and brilliant staff but we recommend booking as it gets busy.
