Our nearest distillery is at the end of the new Port Charlotte - Bruichladdich foot/cycle path. The walk home from the distillery is apparently found to be longer! If you're out cycling or gone fishing, there's also a great coffee shop in the village to help you on your way.

Jura, our sister isle, offers a wonderful distillery, hotel, restaurant and bar. There's the much photographed beauty of the Paps of Jura and the less photographed rooms where George Orwell stayed whilst writing his famous novel, 1984.

A must see on Islay, this beautiful wide open bay facing out to the Atlantic, has the bracing sea air and sunshine that will blow away any cares or cobwebs you may have brought with you to Islay. Nearby Kilchoman Distillery has coffee and cake too - what more can there be?

Just along the coast from Port Charlotte, at the south west tip of Islay, is the lovely village of Portnahaven. Here you will find seals basking on the rocks in the village centre, taking some leisurely respite from the Atlantic waves that brought them here.
