Assembly Coffee is a little cafe situated at Evans Road Lodge, right beside a prata shop. The focal point of the place has to be their coffee, which they take very seriously, using beans from local roasters – Liberty Coffee & Geisha Specialty. Assembly also offers up a good, hearty brunch, with waffles that are highly well-known.

Closest to the river mouth, this was once Singapore’s centre of commerce, and it remained an important economic area into the 1960s. By the mid-1980s, many of the shophouses were in ruins, businesses having shifted to high-tech cargo centres elsewhere on the island. Declared a conservation zone by the government, the area is now crammed with pubs, touristy eateries and persistent restaurant touts. One bar worth stopping at is rooftop Southbridge , its skyline and river views are simply jaw-dropping.

The bar is completely uncovered and there’s nothing but a five-foot glass wall to keep you from walking off the edge and plummeting 282 metres onto a banker.
Needless to say, the views are phenomenal. The bar occupies the entire rooftop to create the perfect 360-degree platform. There’s something to look at in every direction — the Singapore River, Marina Bay, the harbour filled with cargo ships — and not a single obstruction.
