The Eminence area is rich with opportunities to recreate and see a variety of natural and cultural sites.
The Current River is one of two nearby rivers that are excellent destinations for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, boating, fishing, gigging and sightseeing. Only one mile from the cabin, down V Highway. You can swim at the gravel bar or launch your boats or floating vessels at the landing.

Current River

The Jacks Fork River is the perfect destination for floating, sightseeing, fishing and exploring. You can contact a local float vendor for renting canoes, kayaks, tubes or rafts. You can launch your own vessels at any public access point.

Alley Mill is a historic steel roller mill, built in 1894 and featured on a U.S. quarter in 2017. The setting, with the bluff behind the spring, is amazing and a photographer's dream. Alley is located about 5 miles west of Eminence on Highway 106 and only about 15 minutes from Prairie Hollow Hideaway.

A beautiful blue Ozark spring located north of Eminence on Highway 19. Hike a short trail to the spring, or continue on to the Ozark Trail for a variety of hiking options. During the summer, take a cave tour of Round Spring Cave, which is open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Located approximately 25 minutes from Prairie Hollow Hideaway.
This is one of our favorite springs, which is saying a lot since the area is full of breathtaking blue springs! Blue Spring is located about 15 minutes from Prairie Hollow Hideaway. Travel east on Highway 106. Cross the Current River and continue up the hill. Take the second right turn past the river and then follow the gravel road a couple miles to the parking lot. The road is steep, which can be a challenge on the return trip if the road is slick/wet. The short hike along the Current River and spring branch leads you to one of the bluest springs you'll ever see. Don't miss it!

Hidden and unexpected delight just down the road! The creek that flows past the cabin flows into Prairie Hollow Gorge. Hike the upper trail to view the gorge from the top, hike the lower trail to view the bluffs from below.

Eminence is the closest town to the cabin. It's about 10 minutes away.
Ozark National Scenic Riverways is the first national park area to protect a river system. The Current and Jacks Fork rivers are two of the finest floating rivers you'll find anywhere. Spring-fed, cold and clear they are a delight to canoe, swim, boat or fish. Besides these two famous rivers, the park is home to hundreds of freshwater springs, caves, trails and historic sites such as Alley Mill.

A one-room school, outdoor exhibits, fishing pond and hiking trail can provide hours of enjoyment.
