A must see sight in the North of England! Brilliant art museum in the French style and great cafe. Close to the market town of Barnard Castle which is nice for a walk around.

get on the train in Appleby to Carlisle for the day and see the castle, the museums and shops. Also a fantastic cathedral.

National Trust waterfalls and woodlands. Great walks, tea rooms and access to fells. Really great place for a walk. Steep paths to see the waterfalls and up to Gawbarrow fell but worth it.

Unique village and walks. cafe and parking. the road is narrow and steep and ends at the village but the views are worth it and you can park further down and walk to the village and back.
Ashness bridge is on the way here. Go to Keswick first.

Another great and another unique market town. We like Kirkby Lonsdale very much. about an hour away to the south. Great roads and views for a day out. You can walk along the river and back.
