“It's a destination, the ur-spa town experience, with art-deco decor and waitresses in black and white uniforms so that it could be the setting for an Agatha Christie murder mystery or a Jeeves and Wooster escapade.”

There is soft play for babies and more adventurous rides for the more grown ups. It is open from March – November. Please check the website for specific dates and times. ”

“People have been worshiping at Ripon cathedral for over 1350 years. Founded as a monastery in 660ad by Scottish monks, it was refounded as Benediction by St Wilfrid in 672 and he is now buried near the High Altar. One of the misericords was reputed to be the inspiration of Alice through the Looking Glass for Lewis Caroll who was a canon here. Free to enter, it is a magnificent building not to be missed.”
