“Want to see the Smithsonian Museums? Then you'll definitely want to take a stroll or bike ride along the National Mall. Stop in to see sights like the Washington Monument, Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial, World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and many others. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes!”

Zoo
“Normally not zoo fans, we love the Washington one. Set cleverly into the Rock Creek Park valley, the zoo is almost like a park itself. Entrance is free, but parking is $25 or so. Fills up early especially on weekends. Many find the pandas a highlight but plenty more to see too. Our 2 year old's favourite is Rosie the cow :)”

“Best to go by car - really cool park that many people never think to go to. It's on the other side of town so can take a bit of time to get there but great place for a picnic.”

“I occasionally go here at night, sit on the steps, and just observe the reflection pool along with the Washington Monument in the night sky. I honestly think the experience is better at night. There’s usually college aged adults and small groups of tourists around even at 1am. ”

“This is one of our favorite areas of DC - a newly-developed, thriving neighborhood right on the waterfront. There are splash pads and wading pools for kids in the summer, an ice rink in the winter, tons of great restaurants at various price-points, and even a trapeze school. During the summer we like to attend the weekly outdoor movie nights and live concerts right on the water while enjoying a Jubilee ice cream cone.”
