LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is overpriced and crowded with people! This tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya, Shinjuku and is less touristy. It is also famous with Japanese foodies for a good quality at reasonable prices. I'm going to take you to popular bars and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order signature dishes, and we will discuss the food and drink (and you can pepper me with questions). We will visit 4 restaurants/taverns in total, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks (5 or more different type of drinks) and you'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals. At the end of the tour, I will explain which train station you need to go, depending on where you go. You are going to have a full-size meal on the day in several different restaurants included ramen, so again pls come hungry!

Then we will walk you through the red-light district called Kabuki-cho in Japanese, which is one of the biggest areas here, and witness the actual night life of Japan. And to cap off the tour, we will be going to the bar district where there are over 200 bars to go around in this area which is famous for its time-period sub cultures located in buildings that elicits the time-period themes portrayed. We will visit one to two bars.And you can continue the bar hopping after the tour to explore the rest of the 200 bars! So, what are you waiting for! We'll start at the new Toyosu—the world's largest fish market. We'll then go to the outer area known as the Tsukiji old market and Tsukiji Uogashi, a new building with fish-selling areas, including a background area, We'll drop in for fish while experiencing the authentic and dynamic atmosphere of a wholesale market. After taking some shopping time at the outer area, we'll purchase a variety of fish and head to Asakusa. We'll visit the popular Buddhist Sensō-ji temple before we go to my shop to prepare Kaisekistyle lunch--Traditional Japanese Cuisine--, Kaisen Donburi—sashimi rice bowls—with fresh seafood and more. After our meal, we'll have some surprise treats. Please note that the markets are lively and changing each day. Please arrive on time and be aware that the experience can run over time. Other things to note Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The new market is so huge it will seem like we are viewing a factory. We'll go to the Tsukiji old market after that and enjoy comparing the two marketplaces.

You will make a green tea (Matcha) in an ancient style Japanese tea ceremony room wearing Kimono. First, you will chose your kimono. I will help to make sure that you are dressed correctly also your hair match the traditional styles. You will a selection of kimono in sizes appropriate for women, men, boys, and girls . Second, I will give you an introduction to the Japanese tea ceremony and associated rituals. Traditional Japanese tea ceremony will be held and you will make a green tea (Matcha), drink it, then eat Japanese sweets (Wagashi) which is suitable for the green tea. Lastly, you are allowed to take pictures in the tea ceremony room after the ceremony and in front of our unique backdrops! Other things to note You have an option to do the tea ceremony by sitting on a chair. Please let me know in advance!

I’ll explain the temple’s history and architecture and tell you some fascinating stories about it. Secondly,we’ll visit Fuji-jinjya shrine, which was enshrined on the top of a man-made hill which represents the mt.Fuji in the Edo period. Many people visited this artificial hill as if they felt like claiming up the real mt.Fuji, which has been cherished as a sacred mountain. Let’s claiming up this small mt.Fuji! Then we’d be able to feel what common people believed back then. Finally, we’ll walk to Rikugien – a beautiful 300-year-old garden which is my favorite place in Tokyo. I’ll explain the garden’s secrets and introduce you to ancient Japanese poetry (“waka"), which played an important part in the lives of samurai feudal lords and the nobility. Firstly, we’ll visit the 300 year old Nezu shrine, which is my favorite shrine in Tokyo. I'll explain the history of the shrine and tell you some various beliefs and traditions of ancient Japanese people. When you pass through the “100 red gate tunnel”, you’ll feel as if you are back to the Edo era (17th to 19th century). Secondly, we’ll walk around Yanaka area which is a part of Ueno. The area we’ll walk around is a pretty downtown and a quiet residential area. There are many temples and small traditional shops. I’m sharing some interesting stories behind the places that we’ll visit. You may buy a little souvenirs and eat snacks if you like. The tour ends at a local popular shopping street, Yanaka Ginza. Since I live near here, I can share some of my favorite shops. Ueno was one of the battlegrounds of Meiji Restoration in 1868. I’ll tell about how Japan has changed from the era of the samurai to modernized Japan, sharing my university knowledge and my family story. Welcome to No.1 samurai experience in Tokyo! First you'll change the clothes into "kimono" and "hakama" is samurai style. Introducing with tea ceremony Matcha green tea and Wagashi sweets Next we'll watch a real Japanese katana—a traditional sword used by the samurai of ancient and feudal Japan. Then you'll learn how to handle it with unsharpened katana. We'll also do a traditional Zen meditation. It's called "Rituzen". After doing meditation, you will be calm mind and you can cut one bundle of straw with real sword. Through using with real katana yourself, you can feel one part of swordsmanship as samurai. Lastly, you'll watch a performance using real katana by host. This experience has no flashy production, but you can feel the "real". You can enjoy not only training but also total samurai culture with this time. More than over 50country, over 3000 people joined. From families, couples to martial artists, various people touched and enjoyed the “real” samurai world! If you bring a camera, you can taking some pictures of samurai pauses which learning in this experience! This experience is also great for team building up to about 15 people. We will explore the residual area of Asakusa, Tokyo's old town while stopping by my favorite places while visiting some of the must-visit landmarks in Tokyo (e.g. Sensoji temple with Tokyo Skytree view). We will eat at 5-6 local food restaurants and shops that are popular among the locals. Most of them have a very long history and small family-owned businesses. Throughout the tour, you will taste a wide variety of Japanese food and experience our unique culture. Other things to note This tour is run by either me or my staff. Food is included in the price. You can learn how to make three types pretty sushi in my class. It is not traditional sushi craftsmen teaching, but it is much in originality. You‘ll enjoy the seasonal feeling from those sushi. I will serve delicious miso soup . After the meal is over, I’ll put Kimono on you. you can choose what you like from several kimono. Then lets enjoy tea ceremony together. First of all, let's get to know each other with a simple self-introduction. 1. Choose your favorite antique kimono from over 300 types of kimono. (Kimonos are ranked in 4 levels. There are red stickers, blue stickers, green stickers, and yellow stickers. The price of this experience is the lowest rank red sticker kimono. On the day, You can also choose a different kimono (blue sticker +2000 yen ($15), green sticker +4000 yen ($30), yellow sticker +6000 yen ($45).) 2. Iron the hemming tape and put the loops through which the belt passes. Learn how to remake into a new kimono in various ways. 3. Coordinating the kimono you made with the easy-to-wear obi, obiage, and obi tightening. Wear it and take a photo. Other notes ・Men don't have a part called "ohashiyori" in their kimono. Therefore, men's kimonos cannot be remade to add length. For men, we have an experience to print the family crest and kanji of the name on kimono, haori, juban and make it into a jacket. ・There is an additional charge for purchasing a obi. Let’s become sushi master by spending a half day with sushi chef! This tour consists of two part. First, we will walk around Tsukiji fish market where I will explain about fish and Japanese dishes. Second part is, you will experience sushi making, you can make your own sushi! I make some Omakase sushi for you as well. *The duration of this tour is 3-3.5hours.

We’ll begin with a 30-minute meet-up! After hanging out with new friends, you can enjoy watching a 60-minute comedy show about Japan. (Title "My Japanese Perspective") I’m a Japanese stand-up comedian and I’ll introduce you to Japanese history, religion, culture, sex, and the recommended sightseeing spots in a funny way.
