“A little out of the way, but worth the detour. A windy road will take you to a small parking lot (also accessible by bus, but it will take a while) and you will walk of easy-moderate trails leading to the open ocean. Bring a bottle of wine and some cheese and enjoy a stunning sunset while watching the sailboats making their way home.”

“The Skookumchuck Narrows is a worthwhile visit. About a 50 minute drive to Egmont the Skookumchuck Narrows is a popular attraction on the Sunshine Coast where the powerful rapids and whirlpools of the changing tidal waters can be seen that flow between Jervis Inlet and Sechelt Inlet. The trail is about 8km roundtrip and passes through a scenic west coast rainforest before reaching the viewpoints at either North Point or Roland Point. These rapids are a fairly unique occurrence as the water flow can reach speeds of 30km/h as about 200 billion gallons of water passes through the narrows during a tide change. The best viewing times are when the tides change at their peak times”

“This place is awesome! Just as you are driving up from the ferry and haven't yet hit Gibsons you'll find Persephone's on Stewart Rd. They have lots of great events going on throughout the summer and then weekly throughout the rest of the year. This is ona lovely piece of property with many little outdoor sitting areas where you can grab your beverage and sit down to enjoy. You may even find a small market set up to peruse through. ”

“• Horseshoe Bay is a small community at the western end of the North Shore and home of the BC Ferries terminal. This community is perfectly suited to pedestrian traffic. Park your car and walk the few blocks that constitute the main street, choosing a restaurant that suits your taste. Many come to Horseshoe Bay just for the view. • Families with kids will enjoy the seaside playground, and everyone will enjoy the seaside deck chairs where you can take in the spectacular views. A popular tradition is getting fish and chips or a burger from one of the take-out restaurants and eating it in the park overlooking the water. Another is buying an ice-cream cone and wandering along the pier. ”

“This is one of our most favorite walks. About a 10 minute drive from the village of Sechelt just off the Hwy. You’ll need footwear okay to get muddy (in the off seasons and after a rain). You’ll walk through a beautiful forest, on lovely wooden boardwalks over beaver dammed ponds and end up with spectacular views of the ocean. The entire hike is about 7 km round trip and would be good for those in decent to moderate shape. If you don't feel like doing the whole hike there is lots to see in the first couple km so you won't be disappointed. There are lots of plaques set up along the way that provide insight into local history. ”
