    Jérémy2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
Vonna and Jai!

    Ella2017-05-30T00:00:00Z

A gem of a cottage offering loch & mountain views, a sun room and a wood burning stove. Perfect for walkers being just steps away from the start of marked walking trails in Lochgoilhead.
WELCOME TO IVYBANK COTTAGE A gem of a cottage offering loch & mountain views, a sun room and a wood burning stove. Perfect for walkers being just steps away from the start of marked walking trails in Lochgoilhead. LOCATION WITHIN THE LOCH LOMOND NATIONAL PARK Ivybank was built around 150 years ago as the gardeners cottage for the large Victorian villa situated next door. When the owners modernised the holiday home they were careful to retain many original features. Inverlounin Road is a single track private road leading from the village and following the east shore of Loch Goil. In parts the road is in an elevated position and there are many original grand Victorian homes built between the road and the grounds sloping down to the loch side. Parking is at a premium so the parking bay for one car off the road at the entrance to the property is a great start. As soon as you step out of your car you will be drawn to the view. The cottage is elevated from the lochside and this is only a taste of the uninterrupted views to be enjoyed from the outside patio area. Care has been taken to make sure access is suitable for all. There is a ramp with a slight slope to a side door and then one step to enter the property. From there all rooms, except the double bedroom, are on one level so Ivybank is suitable for anyone with limited mobility. It is a pleasant 10 minute stroll down Inverlounin Road into the village where you will find the post office and general good store and the Goil Inn which is the village pub and restaurant. Either a 30 minute walk through the village, or around the lochside; or a 5 minute drive on quiet roads, you will find more dining and activities available at the Drimsynie Estate. For a small lochside village there truly is an impressive choice of places to go and things to do. Boat hire is available in the village, with free fishing on the loch. There are endless walks from the doorstep for all ages and fitness and cycling and mountain biking give access to fabulous views. TOUR THE COTTAGE You enter the cottage via the patio area into the sun room. Being on the east side of the loch you have the sun till late in the day when it dips behind Beinn Bheula and Beinn Lochain. The sun room is private and perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view and looking out for the visits from the red squirrels and bird life in the garden. From the sun room you enter a small hallway which has a full sized walk in shower and toilet off to one side. The kitchen is modern and equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. There is a wall mounted TV with its own signal. You can watch a different programme than what is being shown in the lounge. The heart of the cottage is the spacious lounge. Who wouldn’t enjoy the special effect that a wood burning stove adds to a lounge? The modern touch of a large wall mounted TV with Freeview makes for a cosy space to socialise and relax. Ample hot water on demand and the cottage is heated by temperature controlled space heaters. Towels are provided. To the front of the cottage is the patio area with a path leading down to the garden which is built on three terraces. Homely cottage in Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. Comfortable space to relax and enjoy stunning views of Lochgoil and surrounding mountains. Ideal holiday destination for lovers of the great outdoors.
Hamilsmay is a two-bedroom timber-framed detached house in a quiet location on the banks of Lochgoil. A double-height living room, complete with cosy wood-burning stove and floor-to-ceiling picture windows provides a comfortable space to admire the stunning views and passing wildlife. The house is on two floors with both bedrooms upstairs and bathroom/toilet downstairs. The master bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has two single beds which can be zipped together to make a double. A travel cot is also available.
The house is in a rural, wilderness setting 1 mile from Lochgoilhead village. Very few houses are at this end of Lochgoilhead making this a tranquil, undisturbed area. Lots of great walks from the house and fishing nearby. Replenishing the bird feeders will ensure a steady stream of feathered visitors, plus the odd red squirrel! Seals are often seen swimming by and occasionally porpoises in the distance. The village has a post office with basic food/household supplies, a 'hotel' (pub) and marine store for fishing supplies and boat rental. The jetty in the village is a big draw for fishermen/women/children and a great place to catch mackerel in summer. Drymsinie holiday village on the other side of the loch offers a range of leisure facilities including gym, swimming/spa, indoor bowls, badminton, mini golf. The house has information on local places of interest, maps and a simple map showing walking routes from the house. Additional information on local routes and other nearby attractions can be found on the Visit Cowal and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park websites. Please note that mobile phone reception in the area is patchy. Around the house, you should find good coverage for most network providers apart from O2 (there is a landline in the house for emergencies).

Read the reviews – Dalriada is a much loved holiday home. Turn up, switch off, re-charge. A wonderfully refreshing cabin-in-the-woods type holiday on the shores of Loch Goil in the Loch Lomond National Park. Bliss.
Introducing Dalriada (pronounced: dael’riada) A cedar wood chalet holiday home located between the villages of Lochgoilhead and Carrick Castle on the west side of Loch Goil. The entrance is shared with another property which is only occasionally occupied by the owners. Step out of the chalet and you are right on the shores of this scenic tidal sea loch. Bring your binoculars. Depending on the time of year the gannets put on a marvellous display diving for fish and you can look out for seals, which are common. Porpoises are regular visitors and there has been sightings of Otter’s on the shoreline this year (2014). No matter what, you’re in a perfect spot to look out for them. Dalriada will be appreciated by visitors looking for a comfortable, modest base to relax in a rural west coast setting. This is a holiday property where you truly come to switch off. The standard of furnishing and fittings are in keeping with a chalet type property. Simple but functional. Outside there is an enclosed balcony patio area suitable for a pet. Outdoor seating for 2. Bird feeders placed so you can enjoy the visitors from the lounge area. Dalriada is all about the views. This is the place to sit and watch boat traffic on the loch, as well as look out for the birds and animals. Welcome to my newly renovated home on beautiful Loch Goil, deep in Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. It's a warm, cozy and comfortable space to relax and enjoy the stunning views of Loch Goil and the surrounding mountains. It's the perfect holiday destination for lovers of the great outdoors or anyone looking to get away from it all.
This detached bungalow is set in large mature, enclosed gardens and is surrounded by mountains, woodlands and streams, and of course Loch Goil which meets the bottom of the garden. The adventurous can launch water going equipment from the house, and the slightly less adventurous can enjoy a cup of coffee with an uninterrupted view sat on the sea wall. I have just refurbished the house to live in to an exceptional standard, and rent it out from time to time whilst travelling. As such I would expect guests to treat it like their own home. The open plan living area has a vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams, an exposed brick fire place, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the loch, an upright piano, a breakfast bar and a round table with seating for 8 (10 at a push). The floor is finished in oak, the worktops in granite, and great attention to detail has been put into the lighting which I’m sure will impress. It has 4 bedrooms, sleeping 10 guests, and has two full size bathrooms. Each bedroom has a walk in wardrobe for guest use The house is powered by a sustainable air source heat pump, and as such has pressurised hot water from the rainfall showers in each bathroom. We have 35Mb Broadband, 4G phone reception and ASDA will deliver food if you wish. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the main living area for a small extra cleaning fee, but please not in the bedrooms. Anyone frightened of dogs should be aware that my next door neighbour rescues Huskies, which although are beautiful and friendly, may sing together at meal times! If you ask in advance I may be able to arrange meeting the Huskies! If you bring your own dog please make sure it doesn’t sit and bark at the Huskies all day. Please note Lochgoilhead, like much of the Highlands, can have large numbers of midges (small biting insects) in the summer.
There are marked lochside and forest walks from the door, sea angling in the loch and river fishing by permit. An indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, along with a restaurant, bar and 9-hole golf course are available at Drimsynie, which is a 20 minute walk from the house. The village centre with local shop and pub are a 5 minute walk. A 20 minute drive away is Loch Fyne, with its world famous Oyster Bar and Inveraray, with its picturesque castle and medieval jail.

Only an hour from Glasgow airport, but feels like you've entered another world. Bump down the old track where the Duke of Argyll drove his cattle to market to find this little haven nestled amongst the Arrochar Alps. Lovingly eco-renovated from the old stables on this 17th century farm, a spacious, open-plan studio apartment with mezzanine double bedroom & single sofabed. Woodburner and fresh mountain water. Use as a base to run/climb/paddle the area, or just sit and enjoy the view.
Open-plan, double-height living space with sofa and armchair, stereo, and wood burner. Kitchen and dining area are off the same space downstairs. Kitchen has a gas hob (no oven), fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, crockery and utensils and a few essentials like olive oil, salt and pepper, pasta, porridge. Stairs go up to a mezzanine bedroom with full queen-size bed. Armchair can be folded out into a comfortable single bed on request. Private bathroom with wet-room shower. Outside garden space with chairs and table. Note this space is not fully enclosed so children / pets will need to be supervised.
Lochgoilhead village is 3 miles away by car, or 2 on foot via the old drovers road. The village has a post office, a small shop, a pub, a hotel and a caravan park with swimming pool and other leisure facilities. Great for kids. The Shore House Inn in the village has lovely views over the loch and decent food and beer. The Fyne Ales brewery (20 mins) in Cairndow has a bar at the farm and is excellent. Inver Restaurant (30 mins) is incredibly special for lunch or dinner. They have had amazing reviews and in my opinion deserve every one for their attention to detail alone. Glencoe (1.5 hour) is really spectacular. Oban (1 hour) is a lovely town with good fresh fish. We have a new Craft shop in Lochgoilhead Village selling locally made items (and Anna's handcarved spoons). 'Pinetrees' is next to the Post Office. There is also walking, climbing, horse riding, quad biking and more. Ask us for details.

With views north towards Lochgoilhead, south to the entrance from Loch Long and mountains all around, this is a scenic and peaceful place to stay. GROUND FLOOR Entry from the roomy, off-road parking area to the rear of the house with space for 3 or 4 cars, is via the back door, leading into a porch area. Carry on into the house to the spacious hallway where you will find a WC cloakroom and a broad, dramatic staircase. The drawing room is at the front of the house with a magnificent bay window giving you a full sweep of the ever changing panorama. This is the place to relax and socialise – with a baby grand piano, you can even enjoy live music if anyone in the party plays! At the rear of the ground floor is a TV/games room with a 32″ TV, DVD, iPod docking station as well as a selection of board games, plus mountain and loch views for added distraction. Please be aware that your dog is not allowed upstairs in the house. £30 per stay. OUTSIDE SPACE Beach House has a raised patio area at the front of the house with a viewing bench and steps down to a lower lawn, which finishes just yards from the bank across the lane with further steps down to the high tide mark. There is a grassy area to the rear beyond the parking area, with extensive open views to the surrounding mountains, in the middle of which the house nestles as if in a bowl of green and purple peaks. Straight out of the front door, there are low level coastal walks along the side of the loch round to the next villages in each direction; mid level forest walks across the face of the mountains; and high level peak walks over the tops – not for the unprepared or the inexperienced at this level though. And bring your binoculars! Depending on the time of year the gannets put on a marvelous display diving for fish, and you can look out for seals, which are common. The oyster catchers are great fun running frantically around on the foreshore, stopping to thrust their long, bright red beaks into the ground; the hooded crows are fascinating as they fly up with shellfish and drop them onto the road and the rocks to break them open; deer are regular visitors to the shoreline in search of seaweed; and a rare red squirrel has recently been seen scampering along a bridge parapet barely 50 yards from the house. Porpoises are also regular visitors to the bay and in the last two years there have even been sightings of what are believed to have been minke whale. No matter what, you’re in a perfect spot to look out for all of them with easy access to the shoreline, the woods and the mountains. We have to admit that the beach is not golden, tropical sand but primarily pebble and shingle, although there are sizeable areas of sand exposed as the tide retreats. However, the nooks and crannies among the rocks and the clarity of the water make for fascinating exploration territory as you paddle along the waterline, following the tide out and back – getting the kids back in for meals can be hard work! There is a collection of ‘House Wellies’ in a variety of sizes in the back porch to facilitate such adventures, even for those who only brought sandals – the water can be chilly on the toes and nobody comes to Scotland with a plan to lounge around working on their tan now, do they! WHO WILL ENJUOY STAYING AT BEACH HOUSE? This spacious and well-appointed house will be ideal for larger families or groups of friends looking for good facilities within the property in a get-away-from-it-all location. Carrick Castle is at the end of a 5-mile single track road from Lochgoilhead, which is 5 miles down a single track road from the high point in the pass through the Arrochar Alps known as Rest And Be Thankful. The open hill will be the focus of a biodiversity management programme which will include strict grazing control, a process which has already started and which is already paying dividends in terms of increased biodiversity.
