There is a slightly more up-market restaurant upstairs which serves great food and has fantastic views or downstairs you can sit and just have drink or have something from the bar menu. Dogs are welcome here, but only downstairs.”

Natural Feature
“Brownsea Island lies in Poole Harbour opposite the town of Poole in Dorset, England. It is the largest of eight islands in the harbour. The island can be reached by one of the public ferries or by private boat. There is a wharf and a small dock near the main castle. The island is 1 1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) long and 3⁄4 mile (1.2 km) wide and consists of 500 acres (200 ha) of woodland (pine and oak), heathland and salt-marsh.[2] The entire island, except the church and a few other buildings which are leased or managed by third parties, is owned by the National Trust. Most of the buildings are situated near the small landing stage. The northern portion of the island is a Nature Reserve managed by Dorset Wildlife Trust and an important habitat for birds; this part of the island has limited public access. A small portion to the southeast of the island, along with Brownsea Castle, is leased to the John Lewis Partnership for use as a holiday hotel for staff, and is not open to the public.”

“The Hive Beach Café is located right on the beach at Burton Bradstock on the Jurassic Coast. With far reaching views across Lyme Bay and Chesil Beach. It's the perfect location to enjoy fresh, local seafood, homemade cakes or just a simple cup of tea. They use locally sourced, sustainable ingredients and support local suppliers wherever possible. When available they serve fish straight from the very shoreline you’ll be eating on. As a result, their comprehensive menu slowly evolves through the seasons. Now in it's 27th year of trading, the cafe has become a popular and well established eatery favoured by locals and holiday makers alike. With our sister cafe 'The Watch House Cafe' in West Bay in it's 8th year and our most recently opened restaurant 'The Club House' along the coast in West Bexington, the Hive brand has spread along the rugged West Dorset coastline over the years, always offering quality seafood infused menus in some of the finest locations. ”

“The food here is excellent - you can tell they use fresh ingredients and the menu has some interesting choices. It's very stylish - country and unpretentious but comfortable and inviting. It's also worth a visit for the drive through the Fonthill Bishop Estate - beautiful, stretched out well kept paddocks and fields with horses grazing and attractive wooden fences...Very English country! ”
