“Cathedral Cove is located in Hahei only 5 Min. drive from Hot Water Beach. Drive up Grange Road and park your car on the top of the hill which comes at a cost. You can also park the car at Hahei Beach which is free. From the top carpark you walk down to Cathedral Cove around 30 Min. From the beach it will take 40 Min. The walk is well maintained so you wont need walking boots however take some water and your bathing suit it is an absolute stunning beach. ”

“This train ride is one of the most popular in New Zealand. Enjoy a 1 hour return trip on this scenic narrow gauge mountain railway through regenerating and replanted native kauri forest where unique pottery sculptures line the track. The train includes 2 spirals, 3 short tunnels, 5 reversing points and several large viaducts as it climbs up the hill to the Eyefull Tower. At the top there are panoramic views out over the island-studded Hauraki Gulf.”

“Go to the lookout, there’s a best selfie spot on a rock throne and if you keep going to the point there’s the illest cliff jump into an ocean cave. Don’t go alone. So dangerous...”

“It's one of the must visit places in NZ and only accessible by foot, kayak or boat. And so fabulous, also SO busy - consider a dawn raid :-) Or try Lonely Bay for a similar but more low key experience. Cathedral Cove Park and Ride is available from the Hahei Visitor car park (on the right as you enter Hahei). It only costs $5 return per person, $3 for a child and $10 for a family (2 adults 2 children). It is recommended that all visitors to Hahei Beach and Cathedral Cove use this car park. Visitors can choose to walk from the North end of Hahei Beach to Cathedral Cove, this track adds another 25 minutes to the walk. Parking is prohibited at Grange Rd from the 1 October - 30 April.”

“Quiet and stunning. A wonderful drive from kuaotunu (10 mins) on a windy road with spectacular views. Shady spots for a beach picnic. Lots of safe swimming for kids in the shallows. Fun swimming in big waves for the adults. Great day out - no shops take some food and drinks with you!”

“In summer there is a little caravan that offers great food (including mussel fritters!). It is very basic, however the food is tasty and the view is even better when eating in right on the beach. The little shop at the entrance also sells ice cream if you want dessert”

“Worth a drive. Stop in Kuatuna for an ice-cream (world famous and massive) and then carry on over the hill to Opito Bay. Safe beach and you can walk across farmland to Crayfish Bay. ”
