“Any item, any time is a stellar choice at Uptown. Brunch is phenomenal, dinner is fantastic. If you are a soccer fan, sit in the bar and watch the international games with all the regulars.”
“IU is repeatedly chosen as one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. It is wooded, has luscious plantings around beautiful limestone buildings, many with Art Deco carved friezes. You can often catch a free musical performance at Auer Hall, given by Music School faculty members with a national following and by their students.”
“Neighborhood favorite, 3 blocks from the house. Has seating inside as well as on a big wrap-around porch; heaters warm the outside tables on cool nights. If they are crowded, go to their second location on Patterson (in the same building as Sweetgrass.) It has a less extensive menu but it is where they bake so it smells divine. There is a big wine cellar at the Patterson location. In addition, Feast sells hand pies and pastries at the Farmers Market on Saturday.”
“If you're an old hippy or young boho and love your coffee black and your restaurant dirty and your parking hard to find and dogs under your feet while you eat, this is the place for you.”
“You can't visit B-town without stopping in at Mother Bear's for their amazing pizza. They're a Bloomington tradition. They have a new second location west of town that has tons of seating. They have a daily early bird special between 4-6 PM. Be sure to add your name to the graffiti walls!”
“If you'd rather feed with the rich than laugh with the poor, this is the place for you. Best meat in town and you'll pay through the nose for it. You'll also have to pay for parking. Little Zagreb is to Bloomington as St. Elmo is to Indy.”
