Stone Cottage is a cozy, rustic home on 40 acres of private land near the village of Casco in the heart of Maine's Lakes Region, nestled alongside a 3-acre pond. 숙소
Stone Cottage is a two-story, 2000 square foot, 3-bedroom / 1.5 bath semi-detached house. Originally a free-standing structure, it was integrated with Pine Cottage into a single structure in 1960. Now a triplex, Stone and Pine are separated by a center unit that is used only for storage, providing each of the cottages with a stand-alone feel and plenty of privacy.
The large open-concept downstairs living area includes the living room, kitchen, dining area, and foyer / sitting area. The original exposed wooden beams, wide pumpkin pine floors, and commanding stone fireplace create a rustic ambience that evokes Maine's rugged outdoor heritage.
In the living room are two oversized leather chairs with ottomans, a two-piece sectional couch, and a sliding glass door that leads to a country patio and a view of the pond. The 42" flat-screen TV comes with hundreds of free channels from Spectrum, a DVD/Blu-Ray player, and a DVR. The 100mbps broadband connection is available throughout the cottage and most of the landscaped areas around the outside of the house, with plenty of bandwidth to support everyone's favorite screen time.
The centerpiece of the living area is the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, which is eight feet wide and four feet deep. On the kitchen side of the fireplace is an integrated wood stove which can comfortably heat the entire house. Hardwood firewood is available from a variety of sellers in Naples (4.5 miles from the property, about 7 minutes by car). The house also has a high-efficiency propane forced-air furnace with a smart thermostat located on the wall outside the downstairs bathroom.
Between the kitchen and the living room, the dining area has an extra-long tiled table that can comfortably seat six (extra chairs in the sitting area behind the kitchen) and creates nice flow with lots of room to sit, stand, or move around.
In the kitchen are a full-size electric oven and glass-top cooking surface, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, drip coffee machine, Keurig coffee machine with an assortment of coffee pods, a large two-basin sink, and a granite-covered island. The kitchen is undergoing a step-wise renovation, with brand-new counters and partially new paint, and is fully functional with plenty of room to socialize while preparing meals. The recently-discovered-and-uncovered antique floor is a work in progress, but adds to the rustic charm of the downstairs.
Also downstairs are a large half-bath with full-size washer and dryer for exclusive guest use, and an entryway / sitting area that extends the size of the kitchen.
Upstairs are three comfortable bedrooms, each with its own particular charm. The large master bedroom has panoramic views of the property and includes a king-size bed, a full-size futon, and a large walk-in closet with two bunk beds. At the foot of the master bed is a wall-mounted electric "fireplace" heater which has a variety of color modes and does a good job of taking the winter chill out of the room.
The middle bedroom has a full-size platform bed with a very comfortable futon mattress, large antique dresser, and a full-width clothes closet with a sitting bench. The third bedroom adjoins the full bath and has a king-size bed and a spacious closet. The hall closet at the top of the stairs contains extra pillows and blankets, air beds (2 queen, 1 full, 1 twin), a ceramic space heater, and two fans.
게스트 이용 가능 공간/시설
Outdoors, guests have unlimited access to the entire property, as well as several hundred acres of surrounding undeveloped land. The house is located at the south end of the pond and is surrounded by about five acres of lawn, fields, and grassy trails that wind through a large stand of pines. A footbridge across the stream below the beaver pond leads up Barnett Hill where the "back 30" acres abut a vast network of ATV and snowmobile trails that wind their way through Maine, New Hampshire, and all the way to Canada. In summer and fall the trails are great for extended hikes and mountain biking. In winter they offer world-class snowmobile excursions as well as extended cross-country skiing (with hills!). Closer to the house, the grounds and the frozen pond are great for shorter, flatter winter hikes and cross-country skiing.
There is ample guest parking for up to four vehicles (six in summer) at the top of the straight portion of the driveway.

Stone Cottage is located on a dead-end road with only a handful of homes nearby, so it is very quiet here. At night it gets very dark, so if you like to look at the stars you've come to the right place. Turn the house lights down and let the splendor of the Milky Way wash over you. If you happen to be here in mid-August you'll have a front-row seat for the Perseid meteor showers, with up to 60 shooting stars an hour.

I've lived in Maine most of my life and enjoy many of the outdoor activities Maine has to offer, especially swimming, kayaking, hiking and horseback riding. There are so many great things to do in the Lakes Region - just ask if you need some ideas! I enjoy gardening and traveling, and spending quality time with my Golden Retriever (Mink) and Rottweiler (Ray).
