Jerome is a truly special place. It was a former copper mining town incorporated in 1876, and is precariously perched one mile high on Cleopatra Hill with some of the most spectacular canyon and mountain views outside of the Grand Canyon. Absolutely stunning views of Oak Creek Canyon, colorful Sedona, breath-taking Sycamore Canyon and the entire Verde Valley from Cottonwood up to Flagstaff and its San Francisco Peaks.
Shrinking from a peak population of app 15,000 in the late 1920's to 50 hearty souls by the late 1950's, Jerome almost vanished if it were not for artists and "hippies" who came to its rescue in the 1960's and 1970's. Today, Jerome is mainly an artist-retirement-adult adventure community of app 450 unique souls with over 1.5 million visitors annually. Today we house 25+ galleries, over 15 restaurants and wine bars, 2 vintage saloons and numerous one of a kind shops like Nellie Bly's Kaleidoscopes & Glass Art, Pura Vida Gallery, Pusicfer, Papillion & Raku.

Hello, my name is Joe Testone, host of 747 East Avenue in the historic town of Jerome, AZ. My husband Jim, a former structural engineer, and I, a former residential real estate broker in NYC, both fell in love with Jerome after seeing it for the first time 10 years ago. Being a preservationist and lover of architecture, this town and property both called out to me-us. I love seeing a place that has been neglected, come back to life, on an elevated level, with restoration being the principal catalyst rather than demolition and renovation. Jim now co-owns a restaurant, the Red Rooster Cafe in Old Town Cottonwood, and I work on the property and was recently appointed to Jerome's Planning and Zoning commission. Outside of work, Jim and I really enjoy cooking at home, entertaining, having wine on our magical front porch with neighbors and friends, staying connected to our friends and family back East (NYC, Philly and Syracuse) and travelling.
