숙소
Lodge Pleasantries

Welcome! Airbnb asks Hosts to give you a description of the space and operations of the facility, so you can make informed inquires that lead you to just the right place to stay.

We'll go over these notes with you so we can work out all your concerns, so when you get here, you'll enjoy the Lodge much like you would enjoy being at home. Staying here is good for the soul! Coffee with cream and miles of space in which to pray and worship! These are ready each morning and evening for guests who want them.

The Lodge's main appeal is the lovely, openness yet home-like atmosphere inside the Lodge plus instant access outside to expanses of forested BLM land. Just walk out the front door. Step off the deck into natural beauty and plenty of room to explore this area of the Rockies.

The forest encloses the Lodge, right up to the structure and long driveway. There is no landscaping or mowed lawns, but three fenced in perennial flower beds are attached to our natural forest vegetation and landscape.

It is surrounded by super large Rocky Mountain granite boulders and forested areas but also has many interspersed grassy "park" areas where deer, elk and bears with cubs and sometimes moose meander through.

The Lodge's deck runs across its front southern exposure and all alongside the Lodge on the west side plus becomes a patio on the east side.

The Lodge has a private well and 37 years old water and septic system. Therefore, we are watchful about maintaining and using it, and how we clean and dispose of garbage in the kitchen, and the products we use in its bathrooms and laundry. So, we monitor all products (such as bar soap, shampoos, conditioners, face masks, hair dyes, laundry detergents, fabric softeners).

For example, one guest's mud-based facial mask did not dissolve as advertised and plugged the bathtub drain, and another guest's choice of laundry detergent and fabric softener left such an odor in the washer and drier that it infiltrated all other laundry.

We supply products, so that what is acceptable is always here for you at no charge. These days, most guests bring their own products, and most of these products are natural. We rely on our guests to help us be watchful over the upkeep and well-being of our water and septic system. Thank you in advance for your help.

We provide satellite Wi-fi, furnishings, pictures, lamps, bedding, towels, full kitchen; hopefully what you need to feel at home is here, or can be added!

We ask guests to let us know if they wish to rearrange, remove, rearrange or replace any Lodge item from his private room.

If you have special needs or concerns, we want to know so we can prepare for you. Please message, email or call us about them.

This paragraph is necessary to consider, and you might even smile, knowing its impact on guest comfort. Some guests deal with dog or cat sensitivities. As you know, vacuuming, dusting, washing carpeting, upholstered furniture and bedding regularly does not remove animal dander.

Consider our outside Australian/Blue Heeler dog (Pete) and gray mouser Tabby (Zoey). Pete comes into the kitchen to be fed and oftentimes his big brown eyes and "smile" get him inside at other times. But he is to be known as an outdoor dog. He may not sleep inside or be on any furniture or carpeting or stay in anyone’s bedroom. The cat is never brought inside.

If you hold or pet the cat or dog, remember to brush the hairs off your clothing before coming inside, and once inside wash your hands in the half bath sink (never in the kitchen sink) before going farther into the Lodge.

And as you think about how dander can transfer from your clothing to furniture, carpeting and bedding, a strong suggestion is that you set aside an outfit designated for your “serious dog or kitty encounters” (and keep it bagged and leave it in the laundry room). “Serious” is like taking a nap with it, etc.

Please continue smiling here too. If you own a home, you'll know exactly why the Hostess is unbending about these next expectancies:

1) All food and beverages (except for water), are prepared and eaten in the kitchen and dining areas only.

2) Hangars, racks and baskets are handy so you can keep wet and soiled bedding, clothing and towels OFF THE CARPETING, UPHOLSTERED CHAIRS, VARNISHED FURNITURE, AND BEDS.

3) Lodge bedding is for use on beds only, not on the floors, and not outside the Lodge on the deck or in the woods.

4) Electricity is the Lodge's biggest expense. Lights are plentiful in the Lodge and guests are welcome to use them. And we do not charge extra for "normal" usage. However, leaving them on when one leaves a space, and does not return to it soon (as in the normal flow of his life), is not considered "normal" usage. Therefore, we do add a per day charge to a guest's account at the end of his stay, if after one reminder she/ he HABITUALLY TURNS ON AND LEAVES ON LIGHTS, THOUGH HE LEAVES THAT SPACE AND DOES NOT RETURN TO IT SOON. Thank you.

Cleaning requires we must have access to your space, even when you aren't there. And we don't always know ahead of time when that will be.

Both long term guests (10 days and over) and short term (9 days and under) daily are expected to keep up personal housekeeping in their private rooms plus share housekeeping in the full bathroom. This includes emptying personal trash into the main garbage containers in the garage, leaving the bathroom without leaving proof you were just there, such as toothpaste residue in the sink, soap scum on the vanity sink, shower tile and fixtures or tub, and fecal matter in the toilet bowl.

Long term guests (10 days +) are expected to perform additional housekeeping: vacuum carpet weekly in his private room, wash personally used Lodge towels and wash cloths and bedding (mattress covers, sheets, pillow cases, pillow covers, and blankets). Note: Hostess cleans quilts and filled blankets.

(FYI, the cleaning fee included in your initial booking fee is used after you check-out to clean the room in preparation for the next guest.)

Kitchen cleanup means removing all evidence that you used it.

Laundry room cleanup means emptying lint screen in drier (after every load to prevent slower drying time for the next load), and wiping down the operation panels, mouths, interior and exterior surfaces of the washer and drier with a wet cloth after you're through using them, and keeping the laundry room utility sink cleaned if you used it.

After you arrive, you will be given a straightforward guided tour of where to dispose of these four categories of trash; paper products, food scraps, used food packaging containers and cans, all types of beverage containers.

The Lodge cleans the main area and garage and entry area often.

Please report your valuables to the Hostess and she will put them in a vault.

Early in our Airbnb hosting, we discovered that guests' GPA Apps tried to find Maggie Hill Lane instead of Maggie Hill Road. This was partly due to their Apps' word substitution feature, and partly due to the construction of new roads, the discontinuance of some old roads, and information which has not been updated in some Apps. You can solve this problem like this:

1) Download the old GPS App called MapQuest, because it recognizes our address and shows a blue route to it. Look for Forest Park Drive, Meadow Lane and Maggie Hill Road, the last three roads you’ll drive on to arrive at the Lodge address.

2) As you type in the Lodge’s physical address, double check that your App does not substitute the word "Lane" for "Road."

If you don’t correct the GPS situation ahead of time, please plan to arrive in the area before dark, because when you discover you don’t know where you are, you may not have cell service to tell us this news!

If you book from mid-March into mid-October, you may not need an all-wheel drive vehicle. But since the rest of the year is considering becoming winter, and likely will bring it into being, you will need an all-wheel drive. Consider this report of October 2020. Beginning mid-October, in two weeks we had two major snow storms, one at the beginning of the third week and on at the end of the fourth week. I am inserting this 2021 report on March 9, 2021. Yesterday and last night we accumulated five inches new snow. Today, it's not cold, just snowy and sunny.

When you book, indicate the total number of guests.

Storage space for your skiing, hunting, hiking, bike riding, paddle boating, fishing, tenting, etc., activities is in the garage.

Come and enjoy life with us.

Allen Mountain Lodge, established in 1983, is well-used, well preserved and rustically weathered, homey and beautiful. It's been at various times a 4-H horsemanship training and riding facility, a horse hospital, home between homes for five families, housing for traveling musicians, contract nurses, student interns, bow and rifle hunters. Its appeal is its seclusion plus nearness to BLM forestland, natural parks, flowers, native grasses, sagebrush bushes, wildlife, serenity, "it is as-is" surroundings, encircling and touching the Lodge, minus mowed lawns! Welcome!

78 years young! Still an outdoors woman, strong, healthy, a hunter and hiker. Likes to cook. A woman of faith in Christ the Savior. Avid piano player, sings Alto 1 in the Helena Symphony Chorale. Truly loves people. An English teacher since 1966. Worked in public education until 1988. Since 1988 has been working nationally with homeschooling families, and as a speaker and a presenter at state homeschool conventions since 2005. Is currently preparing eBooks for multi-sensory instruction in English to neurologically challenged students, using a teaching method called SAY & DO. Has three Airbnb Listings in her Mountain Lodge. Drives a Subaru. Has outside dog, Pete, and outdoor cat, Zoey. Her flower beds are enclosed because of the deer population. Sees bears in the spring and hears coyotes all year round. Elk also are nearby. Because of BLM land bordering her property, hunters have close access to mule deer and elk during archery and rifle season, which is September to end of November. Her style of hosting is to make you feel at home. If you like that feel, please come. Psalms 23, 91 and 71 are her life Psalms. She lives by faith in the Holy Word and enjoys a relationship with the One who created all things by the Word of His mouth. She trades on being His Beloved daughter. She calls Him "Father" and is a lot like Him. She's a fun combination of His kindness and frankness.
