Cocachimba is a peaceful village facing the majestic Gocta waterfalls. We built our beautiful mud-and-stone cottage with traditional eco-construction methods. The cottage is 1 km away from the village, accessible via a private road and then 5 min of steep footpath. You'll enjoy privacy and a spectacular view, but need to be in good physical condition. Hot water, kitchen, 2 double beds, and WiFi.

숙소
The cottage consists of one large room, which includes the kitchen, lounge and two double beds. Huge glass windows allow for a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and the waterfall (which you can even see while lying in bed!). There's a big stone patio outside where you can relax and enjoy the view. The bathroom is located right outside the cottage, and we guarantee that your shower will be accompanied by one of the best views you've ever seen :)
The kitchen consists of a gas stove with two hobs, sink and lovely cooking space with all the basic pots, pans, plates etc. We also have filtered water. (please DO NOT cut directly on the wooden surface, nor put hot pots directly on the wood).
Please note:
- We have electricity. For laptops, we do recommend using a stabilizer because the current in Cocachimba can fluctuate, especially when it's been raining. There are 2 available.
- We have a small fridge.
- We have hot water in the shower
- There is WiFi. For phones, we recommend the providers Bitel or Movistar, which have signal in Cocachimba.
- We recommend that you shop for food etc. in a bigger town before arriving in Cocachimba (e.g. for fresh vegetables). Basics are available in the small "bodegas" in Cocachimba, e.g. eggs, pasta, canned tuna, basic toiletries etc., but the selection is VERY limited. The nearest towns with a market are Pedro Ruiz and Chachapoyas.
게스트 이용 가능 공간/시설
You'll have access to the whole living space, and the 3 hectare land that surrounds it.
기타 주의사항
This cottage is our home, which we built with our own hands and lots of love, and with respect for both nature and the local culture. Please treat it with care.
Stuff to do other than going to the Gocta waterfall:
- Relax on the patio and enjoy the view!
- There are rocky paths all around that are fantastic for hiking or trail running (for the fit people among you: an early morning jog until the waterfall is an amazing way to start your day).
- Explore the 3-hectare land! The marvelous spatuletail hummingbird has been spotted in the upper parts of the land, so go ahead and try some bird-watching!

위치
Cocachimba , 아마조나스(Amazonas), 페루
This is our favorite part of Peru, because it has so many beautiful things to offer: hidden ruins from the mysterious Chachapoyas culture, waterfalls, rare animal species, and breathtaking landscapes. It's lush and green, but not as hot as the lower Amazon, and you don't have to worry about dengue and malaria.
Highlights (ask around in Cocachimba for more information on how to get to these places):
- Gocta waterfall (accessible directly from the cottage/Cocachimba via a 2-hour hike. You can hire horses in the village if you want. To reach the bottom of the upper waterfall, you can also hike via the village of San Pablo. Both hikes are beautiful and unique in their own ways.)
- Yumbilla waterfall (just 30 mins. from Cocachimba - a SPECTACULAR waterfall that everyone should visit).
- Kuelap Fortress (the Machu Pichu of the north, which now has a brand-new cable-car, beautiful to get there). This is about 1.5 hour drive away from Cocachimba.
- Cliff sarcophagi of Karajia and San Geronimo (the Chachapoyas culture buried their dead in high cliffs).
- Huaylla Belen valley.
- Huembo (home of the famous marvelous spatuletail hummingbird).
- City of Chachapoyas (a beautiful old Spanish colonial city, the capital of Amazonas).
- Leymebamba museum (one of the best museums of Peru, which focuses on the Chachapoyas culture - with the distinctive mummies and sarcophagi of this culture).
- Forest trekking (lots of options).
