A Capoeira game doesn't fully come alive without music. I am certified in the teaching of Capoeira music and I teach Capoeira for a living. Samba and Capoeira are like sister and brother. So I teach Samba too. I have been practicing Afro-Brazilian percussion for 18 years and I have taught people of diverse backgrounds and musical ability levels all around the world to play the music of Capoeira.
We will meet at a traditional Korean tea house in the Hanok Village in Chungmuro. After brief introductions, we will review the lyrics to an interesting Afro-Brazilian song. This song of the day could be a Samba song, or Maculele song, but we typically sing Capoeira songs because they often have very deep or philosophical meanings. After our tea session we will start our percussion session…
Please bring a notepad or notebook to write down the lyrics to the songs you will learn. If you want to eat after class, bring your appetites! We can discuss music and Korea in general.
Drums I will provide the percussive musical instruments that we need for the class. You just bring your voices.
