In this experience, we'll walk through ancient streets, where Medioeval travellers and merchants, knights and crusaders, used to come. After a 1,5 h guided tour we'll try the famous vermouth, the popular Piedmontese drink, in one of its traditional versions (served pure or in mixology). Despite it's world-renowned as "Turin Vermouth", most brands were actually founded in Asti. Asti is a beautiful city, with a great history and a charming city centre. Beginning from the Cathedral, the biggest gothic-romanesque church in Piedmont, we'll explore millenary monuments, where the Palio, a very famous horse race, takes places every year since 1275 a.D. We'll also learn about truffle and its hunting, hazelnut tradition and, obviously, wines, which the city is famous for. From gothic to baroque buildings, from Renaissance paintings to local food&wines, we'll end up in a bar, to try a local "aperitivo", Italian lifestyle's iconic activity. Tasting an artisanal vermouth (delicious and renowned local drink, originally invented in the area in XVIII Century), we'll learn how is it made and consumed in Italy, guided through a food pairing that can easily be reproduced, once back home.

I'm Martina, Asti native, born and raised. I've been working in tourism for 15 years, and I'm a professional tour guide and sommelier. I am also a trainer in cooking academies, being specialized on food&wine culture and history. After travelling a lot and living abroad in some beautiful countries, such as Argentina and Australia, I decided to come back home and use what I've been learning. I organize and manage educational tours for professionals and tourists, focused on local food, wine and traditions. I'm a keen tour guide and, furthermore, I can manage several classes based on local products, especially wines, to enjoy better our true Italian lifestyle. And to let people offer exceptional experiences to their friends and families, once back home!
Here's the main path: walking round trip from San Secondo to the Cathedral, then back to San Secondo square, through Corso Alfieri and several side streets detours. It's about 1.5 miles total, mainly in pedestrian area. On the way we'll stop in a historical "Café", an Italian bar, for tasting vermouth.
