Our journey begins in the middle of a forest, where my parent live in a traditional house under hundreds of gigantic palm trees. Enjoying a fresh cup of Balinese coffee with local snack while observing them making coconut oil. Then we continue to trail the local plantation are. Afterwards we dip our selves into the sacred jungle of "Alas Taro". Entering Sanghyang Tegal temple within the forest, which only allowed with the local. We pass through the traditional Balinese communal living area of Taro and visit my aunty's house where I explained the meaning of each lay out: Family temple, living area, ceremonial building and its back yard. Where we find 4 caves. We used to collect lime stones here, also as well as hiding place during the colonial war. We then continue to descend to the river flow. Passing through gigantic rocks, steep canyons, bamboo bridge and spectacular views are what we see. Our movie-like journey then awarded with an 8 mtrs high waterfall where you can splash and enjoy as long as you like. After that we invite you to bathe into our spiritual ritual called 'Melukat" to cleanse not only the physical body, but mind and soul. We are then heading for lunch.
I grew up in Taro village where I spent most afternoons in the rivers played with my friends during my childhood. After 35 years I still remember clearly those fun moments. I know by heart every inch of Yeh Pikat river. That's why I am very passionate to show and share it with others, where its landmark is still beautifully kept. My personal interest in waste management, allow me to keep the river clean by bringing more people to trek and collect plastic waste along the river trek. I believe, the more I trek, the cleaner Yeh Pikat river becomes. I also very eager to share our long lived cultures, traditions and way of life in rural Balinese village of Taro. I am very please to show our hidden beautiful nature and share the untold cultures.
