Only a short forty-five minute drive north from Miami the Oleta River State Park offers the visitor a sublime oasis within the surrounding urban jungle. Kayak through Red Mangrove canopies whose overarching branches lead you through to the open stretches of Miami’s beautiful Biscayne Bay. Paddle over to the Sandspur Island in open-seat kayaks and then wait for the tide to ebb – revealing the Haulover Sandbar. Here you can swim in knee deep water or relax on the sands with all the other sandbar dwellers. There is even a floating hot dog stand!
Includes entrance to Oleta State Park.
I provide personal transportation to and from Oleta State Park for up to four guests.
Choose between canoes or single/double seat kayaks provided by the Oleta River Outdoor Center.
Oleta River State Park is a hidden gem filled with all varieties of local flora and fauna and where pods of dolphin are often seen hunting mackerel as they hide amongst the mangrove roots. Dive-bombing pelicans nail the scraps and Hermit crabs scuttle away into their holes as you glide beneath the mangrove roofs.
