Tsutomu san and his daughter were very friendly and helpful with the other options for sightseeing. Especially the recommendations for the route to the sightseeing places and the explanation of the history of the street. You’re not only gonna get the custom book you made but also lots of history and the background of this city.

I can't explain how cool it was making our own stamp books with recycled kimono covers. Tsutomu and his daughter, Yoko, were awesome hosts.

This is a once in a lifetime experience. Tsutomu and his daughter Yoko were very welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable about traditional craft and bookmarking. The studio is amazing, the beautiful tools he uses, and his expertise and precision and attention to detail is inspiring. I was honored to be in his studio and have the opportunity to make a temple stamp book that I will cherish. Yoko is a delight and she explained everything with care and interesting anecdotes. Her knowledge of the area and the crafts of Japan made it really fun during our short walk to the temple to get my book stamped. I would recommend this experience to anyone with an interest in fine and authentic traditional craft.

This is a one-of-a-kind, special and unique experience in Kyoto as it is not only memorable and rewarding, you’re also making a keepsake that you will use on your trip and you’ll treasure it when return home. It’s the best thing I’ve done this trip. The class is accurately described and I learned so much about the history of the art culture of Kyoto during the process. Tsutomu-sama is a true artistic book-making master; you get a thorough description and demo of each step before you do it yourself and he’s always there to help and encourage you. It’s so cool that you get to customize all aspects of the shrine book and get to use it immediately after the class. Also the snacks and tea provided are really tasty. Highly recommend this experience and would absolutely do it again.

Amazing activity that shows the decades of skills and culture of Japan and how they're preserving the methods used even hundreds of years ago!
