In this introductory-intermediate sushi class, you will learn how to make beautiful and delicious nigiri and rolled sushi at The Kamo Aquarium in Tsuruoka City. You will have the chance to work with fresh locally caught fish right from the coast of the Shonai Region and high grade Tsuyahime Rice grown in the surrounding rice fields. Through this course you will learn how top-grade sushi is made from start to finish and then get to make your own course of sushi and enjoy it with a delicious meal for lunch! This includes. -Cutting Whole Fish into Sashimi -3 Methods of Making Nigiri Sushi -Maki Rolled Sushi We will end this course with a special lunch that is built around the delicious sushi that you will be making.

I am the co-founder of The Hidden Japan, a promotional company here in Yamagata that is dedicated to putting the countryside charm of the Tohoku Region on the map for international tourists visiting Japan. I have lived in Tokyo but was ultimately drawn to Northern Japan for the pristine nature, warmhearted communities, and truly genuine people here who have helped me make a life here in Sakata City. This experience will be co-led with Saori Yamashina, a local culinary expert from Sakata who has put together this sushi experience.
This course takes place in the restaurant of The Kami Aquarium. My company, The Hidden Japan made this course in collaboration with local fishermen and chefs of Tsuruoka City.
