Starting at the countries best local farm shop, Darts Farm, we'll wonder round their organically managed fields to enjoy the birds, butterflies and bees. We'll then follow the local cycle trail passing through two RSPB Nature Reserves and stopping at my favourite hide in the world; Bowling Green Marsh! From here we'll enjoy amazingly close views of some of the local birds and if we're lucky catch up with a Kingfisher or maybe even an Otter! From here we'll make our way towards Topsham to scan the estuary where the two local rivers (River Exe and River Clyst) meet one another attracting lots of interesting wildlife! We'll then walk through Topsham before returning back to the farm for a hot drink and some delicious homemade cake - yum! The walk covers ~3 miles and will be taken at a slow and pleasant wildlife watching pace.
Born and raised in Torbay, Devon, I have over two decade’s worth of experience exploring this magical area I call home and discovering its wildlife secrets. A master of ecology from the University of Reading, I have 8 years experience guiding and teaching people about wildlife. I love to share my knowledge in the hope of infecting others with my enthusiasm. In a world so disconnected from nature, I aspire to help people rediscover the natural world and promote the importance of its conservation.
Places we will visit during our walk will include: - Dart's Farms - RSPB Goosemoor - RSPB Bowling Green Marsh - The River Exe - Topsham
