Come with me for an informative light walk in the city centre. Have you ever wondered what it was to live under communism? What was everyday life behind the Iron Curtain? What was the communist view on the Western World? Having been born and raised in the communist regime, I can share my first hand experiences with you. Did Hungarians have food? What about those queues? What type of talks were ok and what was considered to be dangerous? Could we go to church? What was the general opinion about the propaganda and personal cult? Were we allowed to travel? What was the recommended behaviour for the party state - and what were the consequences if somebody was different? Learn about the secret police, the Hungarian KGB and of course its much feared headquarters. Where is the nuclear bunker in Budapest and what function does it have nowadays? You will get answers to all these questions and of course much more in the tour. You will scroll through the city center and visit the places that will help you travel back in time to Communist Hungary from 1946 to 1989.
You will walk to the Former Nuclear Bunker and visit the square where the mass shooting of the 1956 Anti-Communist Uprising took place. See the magnificient church that was all closed for ten years in the most difficult times, and also the House of Propaganda. You will visit the one and only surviving Soviet Monument of the city and despite Cold War has ended, in some parts of the city is seems to still be ongoing...
