Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku) is a traditional Japanese awareness meditation, proven to be a profound antidote to anxiety, depression, fear and tension.

You will be taken upon a simple forest walk, whereupon your guide, Helena, will facilitate and enable a sensual immersive experience, whereby the forest languages of renewal, growth, change and impermanence will become your experiential second nature.

You will develop a sense of inner peace and stillness that will be supported and encouraged by nature's living, ever-changing process.

Absolutely no experience necessary. The requirements are a willingness to let go of your troubles, fears, worries and anxieties.

I am Helena Skoog, Swedish Yoga Instructor. I was born and raised in the forests of Sweden, and have lived quietly off-grid for 4 years in the ancient woodlands of Sussex.

The destination is inner peace - along the way we will pass the stillness of a lake, taken by the wind through the trees, and carried by birdsong to the warmth of the camp fire, where we will sit in the circle of elders.

Having never done Forest Bathing before, and only having dabbled in meditation and mindfulness I wasn’t sure if I would be out of my depth here. I was very quickly put at ease. Within 10 minutes of meeting Helena and the rest of our group I felt comfortable, and ready to receive a new practice. It’s a tricky thing to describe, so I won’t even attempt it! Just go for it, you won’t regret it :) there were (for me, and I’m sure everyone is different) moments of euphoria and pure peace. I’ll never forget this and I have every intention of continuing this practice in my “normal” everyday life. Thank you Helena! Xxx

I had a wonderful forest bathing experience with Helena and would highly recommend it. You don’t need to have any previous experience and Helena helpfully walks you through the process and encourages you to immerse yourself fully. We had a few problems with verification for the booking but Helena was easy to contact and helpful in getting it all sorted. I would definitely encourage everyone to give it a go!

If you are even slightly interested in Forest Bathing, please give this a try. The location and the host will allow you to go deep into your feelings and perceptions of nature.

This was a magical experience. Gently led by Helena we were immersed in the forest. Although in a group, we each had our own personal experience. Focusing on the forest intensely was a powerful form of mindfulness. The calm and relaxation from the forest has stayed with us. We would love to do this again and would recommend it to anyone interested.

Helena is excellent as a host and guide, we felt it was a great balance of guidance and time alone to explore. As a family we really value and care about nature and spending time in it, however, after “forest bathing” we felt reconnected and rejuvenated in a way we had not felt in some time. It also helped us find new ways to explore nature near our home. We were the first to take a child (20 months) on the walk and it was a wonderful experience (although different, we imagine) from what it would be like without a child. the experience gave us tools to slow down and relearn seeing things with a child’s view. We would definitely recommend the walk.

Wear warmer clothes than usual as we will spend time being still in the woods and in the shade of the forest canope. You may also wish to bring something to sit on during sit spot practice.
