프로그램
Join this 1.5-hour relaxing zen session and find peace of mind.
You can experience Zazen (sitting) meditation and try out simple Sutra recitation at a serene temple surrounded by nature.
This is a perfect opportunity for you to break away from the hustle and bustle of the city and see the peaceful side of Tokyo, where you can appreciating the beauty of Japanese culture to the fullest.
You'll meet me at Gionji Temple in Chofu City, less than an hour from central Tokyo.
Before heading to the main hall, I'll sprinkle your body with Zuko incense powder for purification.
We'll start out with simple Buddhist Sutra reading.
You don't need to stress over making mistakes, it's your willingness that counts.
Finally, it's time to meditate.
Close your eyes and focus your mind as you count your breaths.
I'll teach you the proper posture, breathing technique, and how to effectively relax your body, so you can try it on your own at home.
Normally Zazen is practiced in the Seiza position (formal sitting position in Japan), but if you are not comfortable sitting on the heels, don't hesitate to ask for a stool.
At the end of the session, let's enjoy some Japanese tea and fun conversation together to conclude the experience.
Other things to note
*Children aged under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
*1 If you can't find vacant slot, Please make an inquiry to me.

I'm , the 91st generation head priest of Gion-ji, a Tendai Buddhist temple with more than a millennium of history.
My personal mission is to help people get familiar with the simple and peaceful teachings of Buddhism. At our temple, my wife and I are offering a variety of hands-on experiences, in which you can casually try out authentic Buddhist practices and appreciate traditional Japanese culture, such as "sutra copying" and "zen meditation".
I am also a licensed instructor of Omotesenke School of Tea Ceremony.

방문 장소
Despite being only half an hour away from bustling Shinjuku, Gionji Temple is surrounded by an abundance of beautiful greenery.
This temple was built in the early 8th century to enshrine Jinja-Daioh, a god of water who is said to have helped bring together the founder's parents.
Thanks to its romantic heritage, today Gionji Temple is known as a “ matchmaking temple” where people's love-related wishes are granted.

We booked the meditation experience with Jun, which was a one of a kind experience. The traditional priest was highly knowledgeable, and though he only spoke Japanese, Jun kindly provided a great translator for us. Meditating in the temple and following the traditions of Za-Zen meditation along the priest was something we wouldn't have been able to do on our own. Meditation is not as easy as it sounds, but this experience definitely advanced our knowledge of it. Highly recommend it!
