Coffee, bird watching and stories from a life time of adventure with living local conservation legend, Paul Dutton. Paul is the author of Spirit of the Wilderness, his memoirs on over 60 years in conservation in Africa. He's been instrumental in the fight against rhino poaching, spent a stint in jail in Mozambique for being accused of being a spy... and flown in small aeroplane over the most spectacular nature spots in Africa (before writing it off in a crash in his 70s!). Now, he gives private conversation-talks filled with passion, stories of his adventures and beautiful bird sightings on his very own deck that is nestled right in the middle of a lush coastal forest in the sea side town of Salt Rock. It's rustic, authentic and magical. On arrival, we'll brew some coffee Paul's brought back from his latest travels, serve up some of Paul's home made healthy rusks (South African snack for dunking in coffee) and head on out to his cosy wooden deck to hear some of the gripping stories from his book. In between, we'll catch glimpses of some of the extraordinary birds that live in our coastal forest... all of which Paul loves to name and give a bit of background about.
I'm a well-travelled adventurer who loves to find unique gems near home. One of them is my co-host, Paul Dutton (https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/222591168) He is an 84 year old local living legend. An author, pilot, conservationist, story-teller, scientist and game ranger. He's spent his life fighting to save the rhinos, flying his 2 seater plane over Africa and collecting fascinating and remarkable stories of adventure - including being imprisoned in Mozambique for being "a spy". He's passionate about sharing his love for nature, birds, the environment and his gorgeous "personal forest"
