Kamikochi is a beautiful mountain resort, popular for its Japan's most spectacular mountain scenery. Kamikochi literally means the place gods descend ('Kami' is 'gods') and you may know after seeing how beautiful the scenery is. In this experience, we will walk along the river Azusa to the ancient shirine of Myojin, and step in the forest like in the Ghibli movie, sit in the skirt of the North Japan Alps Hotaka range. If we are lucky enough, we can meet the monkeys, butterflies or even very rare kamoshika (Capricornis crispus). After finished the experience you can enjoy a good onsen hot springs too (depends on the facility's open hours). According to the Shugen do (variation of Buddhism, Shinto and Taoism) view, mountains itself are gods and a place to train the body and purify the spirit. I will explain how in Japanese culture we see the mountain as sacred and still that idea lives in the people.
I am a Japanese vegan mountaineer with five years of experience in mountain. I climbed Himalaya’s beautiful peak, 22,309 feet Ama Dablam. With full time job at the investment company, I have been in mountains over 100 days a year in recent 3 years, climbing, alpine climbing and running. 2016: climbed Himalaya Ama dablam. 2017: completed 4 days female Yamabushi (as a female, Miko) training at Dewa sanzan shrine, Yamagata. 2018: started guiding in Japanese mountains and freelance business consultant. I love my home mountains and am happy to share the beauty and spirituality with friends.

These days, Kamikochi become very popular destination for tourist. But not so many people step in the forest and Shrine. As a mountaineer, I visited the vast Hotaka mountain range so many times and I really wish to share the beauty and silence deeper with friends. And also as a Miko (shrine maiden), I am happy to share the cultural and spiritual aspect of mountains.
