Our tour starts in General Stuff Building (one of State Hermitage's Buildings). We will see connection of old and new design and art! On our way to Impressionism rooms you’ll see modern constructions inside the old architecture in halls of General Stuff Building, and I’ll tell you the history of it. You’ll find out why the Hermitage museum houses one of the biggest collections of Impressionism and postimpressionism (20th century art works). We will explore masterpieces of Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh. These paintings will bring us to the gand-grand-grandparents time. How did Russian businessmen made one of biggest collection of Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse? What happened after the Revolution? We’ll find the answers.
I’m licensed guide. Also my family has huge library of art-books. That's why I've learnt a lot since my childhood. I’ve made a lot of walks through this wonderful and romantic exhibition in the Main Stuff Building of the State Hermitage Museum. Every time I do this tour I show the super brand of the Hermitage - the art collection of impressionism and postimpressionism. In my opinion this collection has the same importance as “old” masters and Royal rooms. I take two days before this activity to repeat all Impressionism's story and to read and find new facts for my guests.
