The walk takes in the Old and New Town, and the Jewish Quarter. We walk through quiet passages and streets, if possible avoiding the crowds, visiting places which are only known by Prague residents. We visit the church in which a human arm has been hanging for centuries. You will hear the curious story of the headless bride, and see the place where the remains of the mythical Golem are said to be. You will learn why Prague Jews buried their departed in layers in the cemetery, why Prague is known as the 'golden city' and the city of a hundred spires, and where the name "Prague" originates. Prague is a city of, at least, eleven centuries of history. We will visit many historical monuments but I would also like to show you the modern face of the city through modern pieces of art, such as the 'endless tower of books' or the upside-down horse. During the walk I will give you a brief history of our country, its greatest and most celebrated citizens, in addition to information about our traditions, customs, language and gastronomy.
I was born in Prague and see it as my 'home town'. I studied languages at universities in The Czech Republic, Spain and Brasil. I became a professional city guide in 2002, taking tourists around Prague Castle, the Lesser Quarter, the Old and New Town and the Jewish Quarter. Later I started as a tour leader in Central Europe. Guiding in 3 languages has brought me into contact with people from around the world, and has allowed me to show them our historical capital, using knowledge I've acquired over the years. I have worked for large and small companies, and for people to whom I was referred.
Astronomical Clock, Old Town Square In the Middle Ages the Astronomical Clock was considered to be the centre of the world. The Czech Republic is the centre of Europe, Prague the centre of The Czech Republic and the Old Town Square the centre of Prague. In the middle of the square is the Old Town Clock which has stood since 1410, and where thousands of people congregate daily to see it in motion. That is one of many treasures Prague has to offer
