Let's meet at 9:30 in Gros for a coffee or juice and introduce ourselves. Then we'll catch a local bus and head about 5 kilometers east of San Sebastian to the fishing village of Pasaia. We'll stroll through the picturesque fishing village and stop at a local art gallery and meet a local artist You will have a chance to see her beautiful artwork and ask questions. After this, we'll begin our walk along the Ruta de los Faros which winds its way over coastal cliffs and hanging valleys. While the first 20 minutes of the ascent is a little steep, it levels off and we will be walking at a very comfortable, mindful pace. The Camino de Santiago follows a section of this trail. You will smell the sea air and sweet lilac flowers. You will leave the city behind you and feel at one with nature. Once we get on the trail, the hike will take about 2.5 hours. We will come out at Zurriola Beach in San Sebastian. At this point, we'll say good-bye and you'll be free to roam around Gros get a snack or take a swim!:)
Hola! I'm Lisa - originally from Ontario, Canada - but I've been living here in San Sebastian for the last 7 years. One of the great things about living here (apart from the delicious pintxos and beaches of course) is the hiking. There are some beautiful walks around San Sebastian. I go out walking every chance I get and I love showing people the spectacular scenery from the area.
coffee or tea to start the morning:)

The village of Pasaia San Pedro where we will start our walk used to be Europe's main whaling port. For centuries, the great Basque expeditions set sail from Pasaia toward Newfoundland. Pasaia is located in a bay protected from the Bay of Biscay. I love the history between Basque fishermen and Canada. The Way of St. James, better knows as the Camino de Santiago follows a section of the trail we will be walking along.
