Craving the freshest possible seafood? Learn the tricks of crabbing with a Charleston native who’s been doing it for years. First, you’ll meet at a dock on a beautiful river to master the delicate art of throwing a cast net. You can even set bait and fish—it’s as hands-on as you’d like. Don’t worry about having the right skills; there’ll be plenty of activities available for everyone. The freshest seafood is what you can catch yourself, so expect to nab a crab, shrimp, and a variety of fish, too.
I am a proud Charleston native with a passion for the outdoors and marine life. My family has been crabbing and casting for fun and food for generations. Crabbing has been therapeutic for me and gave me an outlet when I quit smoking, helping me become a healthier person in more ways than one. Then, when a friend started a Facebook page called "Casual Crabbing with Tia" and posted photos of my adventures, people started asking to come along and flocking to the docks. Within a few hours, those who start off as strangers end up as friends, and I love getting to share my passion with others.
All crabbing equipment, bait and I will also provide a crate with burlap for you to take away any legal size catches.

We'll meet at a public dock or landing, preferably Brittlebank Park in downtown Charleston. It’s a gorgeous pier on the water’s edge and has one of the best sunset views in the city.
