We will meet at the Chula Vista Boat Launch where we will begin with a conversation about Ocean Connectors and our mission of Connecting Youth for Conservation. We'll then talk about the day's planned adventure and review safety guidelines. We'll also cover what wildlife we hope to see, and the paddle route through San Diego Bay, and the Chula Vista Wildlife Reserve. Everyone will be fitted with life vests, binoculars and visors, and then we will launch the kayaks and begin our tour! We'll paddle out of the marina and into the canals of the tidal marsh that occupies much of South San Diego Bay. Be sure to keep an eye out for ospreys, pelicans, and the many migratory species of shorebirds that occupy the bay. In the water, we'll have a chance to see sting rays, jumping mullets, and perhaps a few members of the population of about 60 green sea turtles that live in San Diego Bay. Patrick will wear a speaker system to provide a guided narration throughout the tour and to answer all your questions.
