We are going to see Berlin's very first tiny house village! This utopian village has been build by famous architects like Van Bo Le-Mentzel, designers and education activists like me. I will give you a tour, show you all the tiny houses we've build and explain their concepts. All of them address the future of urban living, Bauhaus design principles as well as sustainability. Stay curious and dive deep into an experiment ground of a new form of social neighborhoods. I am going to bring some hot tea to warm up after the tour and have a little chat in one of the houses!
Hi! My name is Amelie, I live in Berlin and am one of the Bauhaus Campus Berlin curators. I also did build one of the tiny houses with a team - the Holy Foods House. I love tiny houses and a more minimalistic lifestyle with less weight on my shoulders because I want to have freedom and flexibilty but I can tell you more about this during the design talk if you're interested! If you want to know more about the project beforehand and how I got involved, then you can check out my TEDx talk about the future of urban living and how we can change it on YouTube.
We will be at a very special and simultaneously weird area - the tiny houses are located in front of the Bauhaus Archive which stands in the middle of the political area of Berlin - you can see the central offices of big political parties, embassies and the statue of peace. And also the closest U-Bahn station "Nollendorfplatz" is known for its architecture on top which is lighted with rainbow colours - known as a LGBTQ area.
