Prosecco and appetisers will greet before we commence a demonstration in the 17thC technique of 'Carta Marmorizzata' - hand marbled paper. We will guide you through paint application and decorative methods of 'combing' and 'free-form'. Like artisans in our Forentine workshop, you have the opportunity to create your own sheets of Carta Marmorizzata to take home! To reward your artistic efforts an Italian feast has been arranged - mangia! From one Melbourne laneway to another, we walk to our final destination to discover a little piece of Modena at hatted restaurant 'Trattoria Emilia' with a set menu, wine and delicious dolce - bravo!
My heritage is Italian and Melbourne is my home - a magical city of culture and diversity. For the past 14 years I have managed a Florentine paper store specialising in the handcrafted products using traditional methods to create bound journals, hand printed paper & stationery as well as the centuries old technique of Carta Marmorizzata- hand marbled paper. I wanted to share with people the beauty and uniqueness by creating a hands-on experience which allows you to explore your own creativity, appreciate an artisanal craft and celebrate the thriving Italian culture in Melbourne through food.
