Maria is a lovely woman with vast knowledge about the history of Greece. However, for the price I feel it was not worth it. I also purchased my ticket online so we wouldn’t have to wait in the queue but I still ended up waiting.

I have mixed feelings regarding this experience. In fact, while Maria is a nice person and speaks multiple languages, the tour had nothing "unique" which defeats the point of using Airbnb Experiences. On the positive side, Maria made sure to provide us with fresh water, which shows her attention to details, and she wasn't strict with time (the tour lasted 4h00 instead of 3h00). In addition, she's open to questions and frequently asks if there is any doubt. On what could be improved. First, the discussions weren't particularly engaging, they lacked interactivity. Second, the group had 4 french speakers and 1 English speaker yet all discussions were in French, which wasn't very inclusive. Maria did ask a few times if we needed translation but knowing that the tour indicates English as the language, we shouldn't have to ask for a translation. The tour should have been in English, especially when all guests spoke English. Lastly, I would agree with the previous reviews stating that the tour does not give the best value/price. Neither the tickets to the Acropolis nor to the Museum are included, so expect to pay an extra 30€ per person in addition to the tour. All in all, with this current structure, I didn't find this tour particularly unique and found it to be on the expensive end. However, Maria is a nice person, so with more interactivity, enthusiasm and inclusiveness (languages) the tour could be ok. To make it "good" it would really need a "unique" dimension. This unique dimension could be anything that would made the tour distinctive vs going to Acropolis on your own or with a guide

Maria is a very knowledgeable guide. She was nice and she found a way to make this visit nice despite the croud. But it would have been more efficient if everyone could have its tickets before.

Maria was a seemingly nice individual - she allowed our four year old to attend the tour and seemed genuinely happy for us to bring our littles (which seems crazy to me why anyone wouldn't - I would think any professional would want children, most of all, to experience such rich history and culture). We were happy she "accepted" him on the tour (although we now realize many other tours have no problem with children of any age - so if you have littles, do your research).  We did bring a stroller (as mentioned in another review) and once we realized a.) we had to stand in a very long line to purchase our own tickets - this was never made clear and b.) Maria didn't know the stroller protocol, it became apparent we probably should have skipped this tour.  In my humble opinion, it seems as though someone who frequents this site regularly would know the protocols (while Maria believes I should have informed her of us bringing a stroller, I don't agree with this as we are paying, a lot of money I might add, for Maria to be the expert!). If she had known the protocol in the first place, she could have easily avoided a huge frustration with all of the group in just saying, "oh I see you have a stroller - no big deal, the Parthenon does not permit strollers, but there is a building where you can check it - it's at the main entrance. We will meet you over there once you get up the side." Done. End of story.   Regardless of the "she should have, no she should have argument", the simple fact is, Maria left an entire group to escort us around to the other side even when we INSISTED she leave us alone and go to her group. I had already said we would just leave altogether and ask for a refund, but she said "I fear if you leave, you will never come back - you should please just stay,"  Huge disclaimer - you will be paying $74 for Maria to talk and point to buildings. This fee does not include any entrance fees (the Parthenon alone costs a minimum of $20 per person).  This is NOT made clear on her description, so hopefully I made that clear for you. She could have purchased everyone's tickets and we could have skipped the line (as she mentioned we would be able to do on our walk over), but that did not happen. On that note, her tour begin at 1000 (she moved ours to 1030 and then after waiting in line for everyone to get their tickets, to figure out the cluster eff that was the stroller situation, et cetera, we didn't actually start any of the "tour" until 1115). The point is, the busiest time to see the Parthenon is between the hours of 1100-1300. Just keep that in mind when booking this tour. We felt like this tour had no true leadership - group members kept wandering off (including us - mainly because it was boring - and maybe that's why she prefers no kids because they call it like they see it and both of mine did)... she never tried to reign us in and everything seemed disjointed - I didn't see or hear the "storytelling" at all unfortunately.  By 1245, we were barely finishing up the Parthenon and we're going to head to the museum. We could no longer continue the tour as we had another appointment that afternoon, so as to her museum part of the tour, I couldn't tell you what happened. I can tell you we would have had to pay for the tickets ourselves and we probably would have been waiting in another long line to do so.  Like I said previously, at the beginning of the tour, I pulled Maria aside and said this tour wasn't going to work out and that I would just request a refund. She immediately said Airbnb would not refund us and insisted we just stay. I should have listened to my gut on this one but I didn't. I have been working with Airbnb to receive the refund as we paid $194 for this tour. Maria is actually refusing to refund us. I was not going to post this review because I had hoped Maria would do the right thing and refund us, even if partially. We are a one income family and this was our once in a lifetime trip to Greece… Hopefully you have a better experience if you choose to invest in a tour guide...   We truly enjoyed Greece and made wonderful memories - unfortunately this was not one of them.

Maria was clearly very knowledgeable and knew a lot about the history and story behind the acropolis, ancient and modern Greece. We felt that the flow and structure of the tour could be improved. For instance, there was no story behind what we were seeing hence we were left with a lot of questions and ran out of time. This was our first experience in Athens so we had a lot of expectations based on the description and felt a bit underwhelmed by the experience. I am sure that with some structure to the tour and story, Maria will be the best acropolis tour guide.

Maria is a very sweet lady. Unfortunately, we felt the tour very disorganized. Nobody was told to buy tickets online, (which we did), so we had to stand in line 30 minutes with everybody else to wait for admission. There was a family with the a stroller that couldn't get in the main entrance, so we were told to walk up to the Acropolis alone while Maria went to the other entrance with them. She only mentioned where we were supposed to go to one person in the group, so we felt lost and didn't know where to go after. Ended up reading all the descriptions by ourselves. Once the tour started, I felt there was no good intro or story telling. It felt like the most boring history lesson. We were jealous of the other guides that engaged the groupes a lot more. Also a group of our size (7 people and 2 little kids) needs more direction and control. Moments for photos have to be organized, and people in the group need direction. We ended up leaving early and felt it was a waste of time and money unfortunately...
