I just love to take our tour guests to look to some of the most amazing art the world has ever known. Artists have through the ages, with each work of art, communicated with their viewer in a language that's unique and particular to the artist, the time they lived in, and their life experiences, at the time the art was painted. The language of art which is spoken in painted images of food, musical instruments, dead bugs and drapery is utterly fascinating. The Norton Simon has a fabulous collection of Art works that range from Early Asian, the Baroque, the Dutch & Flemish, the Spanish School, a really great collection of Impressionism, to Picasso and the Modern and Contemporary. There is just so much to see and do that we can chose either a Highlights tour or a specific tour of a particular genre. If you choose the Huntington Gardens, the three main galleries they have show the collection of one man, where he lived, his love of art and his love of gardens. Its a wonderful place to tour the galleries, then stop for lunch and choose one garden to see after lunch. If you decide on a cooking class, we can tour the Farmer Market on a Saturday, buy our seasonal ingredients and follow that with a cooking lesson that could include a Paella, or a French Appetizer and Main Course or anything else you would like to know and do.
I have been a museum educator for many years, and have given tours on very interesting and fun ways of looking at art through the lens of history. if your interest is art, then I believe that it doesn't need to be mysterious and I can decipher it using the language that the artists used to communicate with the viewer. I have toured children, ages 6 yrs to 18 yrs and was a coach for Art in Academic Decathlon, as well as leading a Museum Book Club, where art intersects with literature. I founded Art Adventures LA in 2015 and have traveled and lived in Europe, the US and Asia. I am a certified docent Educator from the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Getty Center Los Angeles. I am also a graduate of the London School of Economics and, a qualified chef from the Le Cordon Bleu London & Paris and I love to teach cooking to food enthusiasts.
Shop at the Farmers Market and prepare a paella.
The Norton Simon Museum has a charming outdoor cafe where we will take our break.
Pasadena for those who are not familiar with the City is known as the Garden City. A visit to the Huntington Gardens, really shows what that means. The Norton Simon on the the hand has a garden populated by sculptures from some of the giants of the Modern and Contemporary sculpture., each one with a story of its own in a beautiful garden setting. We'll also explore the local farmers markets and buy our farm to table ingredients.
