What you'll do
“M’za” is a department store and “Kuromon Koji” has souvenir shops located near Kanazawa station, just across from the famous “Omicyo- market”, and its basement has a colorful food market which is always my go-to. Now I have a passion to introduce the taste of local foods that you can get nimbly back in your hotel room, replace for outside dining, bring back as a souvenir, or just enjoy new things to see. A time when you feel like staying inside during traveling (just after getting to the hotel past noon, being a little bit tired of walking outside, or it’s cold or hot or raining or snowing outside...), would you like to look around the inside stores talking with me? Let’s meet the entrance of “Kuromon Koji” which is right next to Starbucks. On the basement floor, there are many kinds of foods: fresh seafood, salad bars, fruits, pickles, bakeries, Sushi and Tempura, Kabayaki and Yakitori, Tonkatsu and Okonomiyaki, Chinese food and Japanese sweets, or Sake, Wine, fresh veritable juice as well. You can also see tableware of local crafts upstairs. I will guide you to be able to find what you want. Of course you can ask me any questions like how it's made or cooked, or how it tastes like, and I’m happy to explain it:) I’m looking forward to being a part of your Kanazawa trip and have awesome time together!
It’s Tomomi. I’m a mother of 4 kids and an instructor of the Way of Tea in Kanazawa which I teach in English specially for overseas visitors. Living here for 15 years raising my kids, I have explored myself and cooked a variety of homemade dishes using local food: fresh fish from Sea of Japan, famous local “Kaga vegetables “, wagyu from “Noto beef”... just to name a few. As for tea ceremony, we make the authentic ceremony dishes named “Kaiseki-Ryori” provided in a course style with seasonal ingredients by ourselves. Seasonally with gratitude, we are sure to bring or send local specialties to say hello to those who look after us in Kanazawa. “M’za” is always useful and familiar place where I can walk with my eyes closed, and the clerks here are as friendly as neighbors. Let’s take a stroll with me and find awesome stuff!
