You will enter Bangkok 1899, the former home of Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri, known as Thailand’s Father of Modern Education. This experience pays homage to this progressive Renaissance man from a century ago where guests are invited to enjoy good food, works of art and the comforts of a historically significant home. Please note that our Chef & Artist change periodically, so the cuisine and art can be different with every visit. 1. Your evening will start with some welcome drinks and a tour of the historical landmark along with an introduction to Bangkok 1899 and our latest programming: Our recent artist-in-residence was Tiffany Singh from New Zealand. Experience her current exhibition, "The Pink Period, " highlights the struggles for women artists and motherhood. 2. Next we will have an innovative, sustainable cooking Experience! Our chef will share with you how to prepare a dish or two with tips on making it perfect: Our current resident Chef is Santiago Fernandez from Lima, Peru who will prepare homestyle dishes using local ingredients, many vegetables and herbs from our very own organic garden! 3. After dinner, guests can hang out in our backyard and terrace, learning more about Na Cafe, our social impact and creative space. This is a Zero Waste experience. All leftovers are composted and sugars get fermented to be used by our indigo dyeing workshop.
Hello! I founded the nonprofit Creative Migration in 2005 to advance cultural diplomacy through three pillars: art, public engagement and sustainability. I'm also a Global Ambassador and Fellow at the Royal Society of Arts. My local co-hosts are Saks and Him, who use food and creativity to bridge cultures and to showcase Thailand through Na Cafe, their social impact endeavor. Saks left his job as a medical doctor to work with at-risk youth, founding the nonprofit SATI. Him actively volunteers in his spare time, likes to garden, up-cycle clothes through indigo dye and makes artisan granola. We can't wait to share with you the historical home that we restored, which is now a cultural and civic hub called Bangkok 1899! See you soon!!!

We will be in Bangkok's Old Town in a recently restored 19th century mansion called Bangkok 1899. We will cook, dine and enjoy art in a very relaxed and beautiful setting. Ban Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri, originally built in 1899, was designed by Italian architect Mario Tamagno. His most famous work includes Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, Neilson Hays Library and Hua Lamphong station. For the very first time, this landmark is open to the public!
