Upon arrival, our guests are first treated to freshly made mixed vegetable pakoras served with tamarind, apple and mint chutneys whilst given an informal introduction to the class itinerary and a chance to meet the other guests. A step-by-step live demonstration is given for 2 dishes of your choice, with tips and tricks provided, along with plenty of opportunities for questions to be asked. We encourage you to help along the way! You will discover just how easy cooking Indian food really is. The dishes can be chicken, lamb or vegetarian based; popular options including creamy butter chicken, spiced mutton curry, aloo saag, and chilli paneer with peppers for example. Private bookings can choose their own preferred dishes. Guests will experience the pleasure of being served each course hot and fresh from the pan with traditionally paired accompaniments of rice and roti freshly cooked straight on an open flame and an Indian style loose leaf salad and pickles. To finish we will share cardamon and turmeric masala chai with sweet and delicious Indian sweets in traditional fashion! At the end of the class we provide each guest with their own ‘how-to card’ along with all the dry spices used so guests can recreate the dishes in the comforts of their own home, including the homemade chai tea blend. Soft drinks will be provided, guests can bring their own booze.
I am very passionate about cooking and have been cooking authentic Indian food for more then 30 years. Born in a Punjabi family in New Delhi, India, I have had the pleasure of growing up with 5 siblings and grandparents in which food was the centre of my childhood, and the love of food has been passed down through the generations in my family. I moved to the U.K from Delhi after I got married 27 years ago, and I have been cooking a variety of food from other cultures including British and Pan-Asian ever since, but Indian cuisine has always been my forte! I successfully ran an Indian food catering business from home for two years. Now my children have all grown up and moved away, I am looking to share my love and passion for good food. I am a great believer that food is the language that brings the world together.

I will welcome the guests to my family home situated in the heart of Newcastle! I will be using my semi-professional kitchen (which can accommodate 20 people freely) leading to a spacious dining room following to the conservatory and lounge.
