Our hike will take us through towering forests of the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve. We will pass the beautiful Rice Lake before continuing past historic sites and to a large old tree stump, you can walk though. As we loop out the forest we will enjoy a Cheese Fondue as we explore the last section of Rice Lake. This is an easy 7 km hike and my go to secret Vancouver hike to share with friends and family. We begin our journey at the End of the Line General store, before crossing the Lynn Creek over pipeline bridge and heading toward Rice Lake, with stops at the remnants of logging flumes and a memorial to a plane that crashed in 1947. We follow a winding path around a lake nestled in the forest a the foot of the mountains. From here we head a little deeper through moss covered trees to discover a beautiful old tree stump that has been modified allowing people to hike and bike through. Once we have enjoyed this location we will return Rice Lake where we will finish our loop of the lake, enjoy a little Cheese Fondue and locally baked bread. On our hike out we will pass the filming location of Are We Done Yet, starring actor/rapper Ice Cube. Our journey is approximately 7km in length and is an easy hike. The route helps us to capture the magic of the forest while seeing new terrain throughout.
Sharing my passion for the outdoors is what I love doing best. I simply can't get enough time outside. As a result, I have made a career guiding tours in the mountain and forests in and around the beautiful city of Vancouver. I have been on hundreds of outdoors adventures and have lots of knowledge to share and more than one trick, to make every day in the great outdoors a day to remember! Check out my instagram handle to get inspired, get a flavor of the pacific north west and even get ideas for some self guided adventures - @rugged_adventure I have also become somewhat of an advocate for safety in the local community. So much so that Breakfast TV Vancouver interviewed me! http://www.btvancouver.ca/videos/the-top-3-hiking-mistakes/

Rice Lake is a calm, quiet lake located on the edge of the Lynn Headwaters Regional Park in North Vancouver. Nestled in a forest at the foot of the mountains, the lake feels like a true escape from the city and yet it is very accessible. The lake is stocked with Rainbow Trout and is a favorite with fishermen in the summer. In the winter, if we get a prolonged cold period this lake will freeze thick enough to enjoy skating on!
