How the pottery class works: The student may decide on what they would like to make. They can either throw on the wheel, make a coil pot or do slab work. I will give an introduction into wedging your own clay and the reasons for it. I will then demonstrate how to make your pottery. The student will spend time making their pottery. The student will choose a glaze. I will bisque fire and glaze fire the pot and the student may collect or I can courier/post (*extra cost) their pottery to them.
I have been a potter for most of the my life. The pottery journey started in High School. When I was in my early twenties I began pottery lessons with master potter Digby Hoets, this was a significant event in my life as it solidified my passion and obsession for ceramics, specifically throwing on the pottery wheel. My pottery skills were also honed through the tutelage of Anne Schultz, Studio 3. I have also done several workshops with other master potters through the Ceramics Association of Southern Africa. My pottery has been exhibited at the regional exhibition in KwaZulu Natal. I sell my pottery through markets and small shops around KwaZulu Natal.
Students are most welcome to bring a bottle of wine for group evening workshops.

Salt Rock offers beautiful beaches, restaurants, shopping and so much more. The pottery studio is a large, sunny space and is perfect for a group or an individual class.
