I'll meet you at the train station, or at your Airbnb, and we'll head to the city centre. We'll walk around the city while I show you how the architecture, statues, and street names are all clues to Glasgow's past. I have facts and figures, but more importantly, stories about the city; the big events that shaped Glasgow's past, and the big characters who made it happen. The tour focuses on the city centre, including George Square, Glasgow Cathedral, and Glasgow Green. My history knowledge and love for the city means we'll see more than your average tourist - the history of Glasgow is right in front of you, but only if you know where to look! I'll explain in real terms the effects of our history on the people who live here, from our ship-building past to our football-obsessed present. It will last around 3 hours. At the end of the tour, we'll head back to the station or your Airbnb, or I'll point you in the direction of a museum, gallery, park, or a great local restaurant, bar, or café. My aim is for you to finish the tour with a heap of knowledge about the city, and hopefully a lot of love for the place I call home. I'm a huge history buff (with an MA in History and English Language), and I LOVE Glasgow - I moved here for my degree and fell head over heels! It's a beautiful city and it has a fascinating history that needs to be shared. Glasgow's history is hidden across the landscape of the city - if you know where to look. I've been discovering its secrets for years now, and want to share my findings with the world!
